Unable to Sync to XP

I have a Verizon XV6700, but can't get it to sync using AS. I'm using the original CD with AS 4.1 (but I've tried up to v4.5 with the same results). XP recognizes the phone when hooked up via USB, but AS on my PC won't connect.

When I first got the phone, it synced fine to my laptop before it crashed and I had to build Win from scratch.

Now, when I look on the Active Sync program on the phone, it only lists the Exchange Server (which syncs fine) at my corp office. There used to be a description of "Windows PC" or something close, which appeared to be the sync profile to my PC.

Does anyone know how to get that menu item back so my computer will recognize it ?

This isn't an earthshattering problem, but a bit annoying. I would like to push some programs to my device using my PC....

Ok, make sure you XP firewall is disable completely or is enabled with exceptions and AS is checked. It needs TCP port 990 open for communication. Sometimes the easiest way is just to uninstall/reinstall AS 4.5 as it will automatically open those ports and add those exceptions in the XP fiirewall for you. If all that is fine the..........

Secondly, check your Device Manager under Network Adpaters and remove the Mobile Device #? "IF" it is there. This is assuming you have the 6700 connected to the PC at the time.

On the 6700 itself in AS (in Programs in Start Menu) if you go to Menu and go to Connections, that box should be checked.

Also on AS on the PC, if you go to File and Connection Settings the "Allow All USB Connections" should be checked as well.

I am going to jump this thread to:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...rtnership.html

It seems to be a similar issue, might as well combine the thoughts.
