Keyboard Dying... Maybe

Hi all,

So I have yet another problem with this phone. My keyboard is dying. I think. Maybe. What happens is that, sometimes (this started today at about 2 PM), when I hit the "a" button, a space and then an a will be inserted. My backspace key then stops working unless I hold it down (tapping it makes it do nothing). And now, my space bar doesn't work sometimes. I need to note that this doesn't occur all the time and sometimes it will happen at one point in a text but stop in another. There seems to be nothing that prompts it happening. Any ideas as to how to fix this? I've already soft restarted numerous times and double checked my input settings.

007,
It does sound like an intermittent hardware problem, maybe a loose ribbon-cable connection. Final tests I would do before accepting the phone hardware is "broke" would be a) confirm these symptoms don't happen with the soft keyboard, and b) hard reset. I've seen posts from others who have fixed their internal cable connections in the past few months - nothing to link to though. Of course this whole issue is moot if you've already moved over to the Q.

To start off: man, do I wish I'd already moved on to the Q. Can't really afford it at the moment- yay being a college student.
On that note, I did hard reset, because I updated to AKU3 and it seemed like that fixed the problem- until the space bar suddenly decided to not work unless I pressed it really hard a few minutes ago. Any suggestions on fixing the cable? I can't really see that being easy but hey, ya never know...

It's one of those "here's how to disassemble your Apache" threads with photos. Good luck. tmb

That's pretty intimidating- and it seems to have fixed itself (although I'm not holding my breath). I guess we'll see if it stays alive for another year (or until I decide to forgo on food for buying a new phone- yay college).
