Helmi's Official WM6 Kitchen

I'm suprised I haven't seen this mentioned here. The official Helmi WM6 Apache kitchen is now available at PPCGeeks:

Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) - PPCGeeks

holy........CRAP!

And what I said in the title, I meant it - in a great way.

Thank you thank you and thank you.

That was the best kitchen-cook-up-your-own-PPC-ROM I've ever came across. From beginning to end, took an hour to figure it out, and my phone has been behaving so much better. I thought I had to replace it, and all the issues I was having on it dissipated with my custom made ROM.

Thank you so much for posting the link, and kudos to the geeks and nerds in PPC Geeks.

Thankfully yers,

James

Arguably one of the dumber questions you'll receive, but does this require installation of WM6 before this is done or can I install this on my WM5?

You can upgrade directly from WM5. The new kitchen is really easy to use. Pretty much fool proof. Give it a shot. And if you do run into any difficulties try the chat room at ppcgeeks. Lots of helpful people.

So are you saying that if I run this kitchen that I'll automatically then have WM6 after installation?

If you take your time, you'll notice you can customize a ROM version based on your phone carrier, and you have a choice of WM5, or WM6. There is no upgrade of any kind for that matter.

Basically the ROM kitchen is a customized means to create a ROM (in case you didn't know, there is small memory partition inside your cell phone that rests the operating system for your phone, which is why when you have to do a reset, or a HARD reset (wipe memory, and reinstall back to factory default) you'll always have a Windows Mobile operating system on it)).

Back to customized ROM, when you click on the link to PPCGeeks - be sure to download BOTH exe and rar (one of each Helmi exe and Helmi rar) and run the EXE file, and where ever folder you choose to install it to, place the rar file in that folder as well.

If you're feeling overwhelmed reading this, I strongly suggest you keep what you got, or seek help. This method is strictly for those who know what they're doing here.

Not for the faint of heart!

Good luck ladies and germs,

James

Thanks, that really helped clear some stuff up.

Don't worry, I'll be able to figure it out ... just may take a few tries

Looking great.

Problem is, it seems it deleted the drivers so my computer won't recognize it.

What exactly do you mean by your computer won't recognize it? It won't recognize it as a Windows Mobile device and sync up? Are you using the latest version of activesync?
