PPC 6700 - Lots of problems!!

Hey all. Before I get started, I have searched the forums for my problems and have found nothing. Sorry if anything has previously been covered, I haven't been able to find it.

My carrier is Sprint

First issue - Sometimes I can't make calls, even with 3+ bars. It just stays on "Dialing..." screen. Sometimes it does connect, but after an unreasonably long amount of time. Sometimes it works A-OK and this can happen all in the same location.

Second issue - Sometimes I can't end calls. This happens when I press the button on the screen, or the button on the phone. The call remains connected. I have to do a soft reboot of the phone to end the call.

Third issue - Sometimes I don't receive calls or texts. I will be showing service. I can have excellent signal strength, it does not matter. I have the most recent updates. When people call, it rings the normal amount and goes to vm, I just never get the call. I think this issue may be related to issue #1.

Sometimes the phone works just fine, and this is when I like it. Right now, I'm not at all happy with it. It's about a month or two old. I haven't yet called Sprint's customer service. I'm hoping to find a fix or at least pinpoint the issue without having to be on the phone (and subsequently hold) for hours on end.

Thanks for any help!

let me guess.. you purchased this phone from fleabay?

if so, did the seller state the phone was in proper working condition?

also, have you done a complete hard reset?

Sprint won't support WM6 since it isn't offically available for the PPC-6700.

I agree with Marc...... since you have not stated that the phone has not been given a "Hard Reset" I would start there.....let it load up from scratch.

The phone did not come from fleabay. Long story, but it came from Sprint as an insurance replacement to the last 6700 (which I never used, I took over my sister's old account). I will try a complete hard reset and see if this fixes anything. I'll also double check the software sticky and see if any (I only have a few installed) programs might be causing problems. My girlfriend also has Sprint and she never experiences any of these problems.

The phone is bone stock aside from the few apps I've installed.

Also, the screen cracked when the phone was in my pocket. No joke. It didn't get dropped or anything. I heavily doubt this is covered by the manufacturer. Does anyone know any different?

This is a bug with WM6. I had Helmi_c's WM6 rom installed until 10 mins ago. Along with this problem, there is an issue with MMS, CallerID via bluetooth, Wi-Fi... and some other stuff. Most is livable (as this is a HUGE step above 3.5) but I needed some of these key things to work... so back to Kirvin's 3.5.

Good freakin luck! LOL. Unless you just got the phone a day ago, you can say it was damaged in transit (shipping), but other than that... you're probably out of luck. Did you buy the extended warranty from Sprint?

I'd sign up insurance right now and once in affect, turn it in or toss it in a lake. The only requirement to get insurance is that they can call you.

Pocket PC's are anything but for the pocket. All it takes it a little excess pressure and the touchscreen will go bust.

As far as your problem, I really think it's an issue with your radio, which is a hardware problem. What programs do you have installed?

lkillen - I already had insurance, I went to the Sprint store today after calling customer service and the tech at the Sprint store was unable to figure out what was wrong. They said they couldn't fix the problem, so they're ordering me a new phone.

saqer - the screen issue is being fixed with a new phone because of the other problems. I'll remember to keep it in it's holster to prevent this from happening again. I think it's a hardware issue as well, but to clear this up, I did a hard reset which wiped out all the old programs. I reinstalled Google maps but it was still acting up before I did that. As far as programs I had installed before the hard reset, I just had Google maps and Alc. 2007 Lite 2.0.4 installed (alarm clock program) Hopefully the new phone (still most likely a refurb) I will be recieving will not have these problems. If it does, am I stuck or can I talk Sprint into swapping models with something in the comparable price range? If not, I guess I'll wait til I am eligible for an upgrade, which is a shame because I like this phone's features a lot, just not its operability.
