How Do I Tell If My ESN is Clear Because I Want To Sell My 6700

I've had 5 6700's over the last 16 months and have had many problems. Last month I called VZW to resolve an issue and the customer service rep asked if I'd like to try another Smart Phone. He allowed me to go to my local Verizon store and pick out any PDA, so I chose the Black Berry 8830. Well after 28 days I have returned the BB because it can't run certain applications I need to run for work. Upon returning the BB, Verizon gave me another XV6700 that I did not have activated. I have ordered a Mogul through the SERO plan and want to know how to find out if my ESN on the new XV6700 is clear, and if I sell the XV on Ebay, will the buyer be able to activate it without any problems? Thanks for the help.

I believe that the only time an esn is flagged is if the phone is reported stolen or if you owe them $$ from a past due bill.
