slow donwloading email and surfing using WiFi

I have trolled around, but haven’t seen anything address this issue. If I connect using Wi-Fi (I don’t use a data plan), and go to an email account, and do a send/receive, it takes almost a minute sometimes. Also, if I go to IE, and load up for instance the WAP version of USA today, it says "connecting" for a while. Sometimes it works fine, but most of the time, I experience the above speeds....

This is on any Wi-Fi network (home, work, buddy's house)…

Thanks in advance for any help…

yea it takes about 30 secs-1 minute to load, lets just say, espn.com.. i thought it would be faster than that. i mean i mostly use it for instant messenger and email so im not too concerned, but yea whats up with the slow speeds, signal is great

change your dns setting to use open dns

mine is set to
primary 4.2.2.1
secondary 4.2.2.2

---unkown sorce---

"DNS
This is a neat little trick. Basically it improves the speed at which the DNS of the webpage you are seeking is retrieved. It does NOT increase bandwidth speed, just DNS lookup. End result is a faster browsing experience since your pages are "found faster".

- From the Start Menu, select 'Settings', then select the 'Connections' tab
- Select the 'Connections' option
- Select 'Manage Existing Connections' option
- Highlight your main Internet connection, and click edit (Power Vision)
- Click 'Edit' - Click 'Next' - Click 'Next' (do not touch these settings!)
- Click 'Advanced', do not touch your User Name/Password

Now select 'Servers' Tab
- Use specfic server address
Enter in:

DNS: 208.67.222.222
Alt DNS: 208.67.220.220
(alternatives
DNS: 4.2.2.1
Alt DNS: 4.2.2.2

- 'OK' - 'Finish' - 'OK'

You should see your data connection restart. I like to soft-reset after this, JIK. - Enjoy faster browsing!"

Perfect fix!! It wasn't where the post said it was (I think I had to go to network cards), but I found the DNS settings, and it is working much better!!

Thanks!!
