How to enter and dial phone numbers with hard pauses?

On my dumb old LG6100 phone, I could enter hard (or soft) pauses into phone numbers, and when I dialed them, they would either prompt at the hard pause, or wait a predefined period (I always used hard pauses).

On my new XV6700 phone, I'm not sure whether this works. I can enter the phone number with a "P" for the pause, and a "#" at the end, which I also need, but when I dial the number, I'm not sure whether it recognizes the "P", and how I'm supposed to get through the prompt/pause.

pauses and such...

without having to touch the screen, or anything else on my phone, I use the nub (joystick).

here's how mine is set...go into Phone > Menu > Options > and under Voicemail this is how mine is set: 5555555555w5555w1w7

the 10 x 5s is the area code and my phone number, the 4 x 5s is my passcode, 1 is for 'new messages' and 7 is for 'delete'.

Now to check the messages, and when it prompts you for password, just press down on the nub, then it'll ssay you have 1 new message, press down on the nub, hear it...then when done, press again on the nub to delete message and hang up.

w is for pause obviously.

good luck.
