Notification woes may be from task managers
I've been having problems with my Bell 6700 and notifications for some time. I experience the issue where the alarm goes off, but I the little dialog that allows me to dismiss it flashes on the screen for about 1/10th of a second then disappears. This leaves the alarm ringing but no way to dismiss it.
I installed Pocket Informant as some people indicated that this fixed the issue for them. This had no effect on my machine. I began to investigate if anything I had installed could be interfering and I found it was my task manager.
I'm sure everyone is familliar with many of the little task manager "applets" that replace the stock "close" button with one that really does close programs. I myself used David Andr's tMan. Many other people use magic button, etc. There are a lot of these things floating around - ever since an old version of wisbar was released with source, people have been changing it slightly and repacking it as their own. It looks like the ones that are based on this old wisbar code seem to be interfering with notifications. If I have either tman or magic button installed, then about 50% of my notifications result in my having to soft-reset my PPC to dismiss it. Without either of them installed, I have now gone a week without a problem.
The one down side is that I haven't yet found a safe replacement.
