Audio format (.au) player?

Found this site recently from a link @ HJ forums and really good information here. Thanks to all for the great tips, hacks, ect... which are working great on my new XV6700 I got last week from Verizon w/ my NE2.

I have been searching everywhere for an audio player which plays .au files. (WMP doesn't seem to support this.)

Anybody know of one?

I'm gonna guess that those are files created with the sound editor Audacity.

I'm not sure. They are created on a "Call" tracking web based application I use at my job. Clips of recorded voice conversations...

Ah, with that information we can get a better answer.
mu-law
mu-law is the international standard telephony encoding format, also known as ITU (formerly CCITT) standard G.711. It packs each 16-bit sample into 8 bits by using a logarithmic table to encode with a 13-bit dynamic range and dropping the least significant 3 bits of precision. Encoding and decoding is very fast and support is universal. There is a slight variation called A-law used in European telephone systems.

Looks like you should be able to play them on WMP on the PC, but probably not on the PDA. I'd try to convert them to wma files or something that your PDA has a codec for.

Thanks for the explanation and links . I was wishing for a solution as to use on the fly = (mobile via my XV6700).

Basically, I'm an Internet Sales Manager and our lead system tracks/records calls that come in on a certain 800 number we use in advertising. If I'm not at a PC (either out on the road or in the sticks somewhere fishing), I wanted to be able to click/dl on the audio link on the site and listen to them or even if I had to save then listen would be fine. Just wanted a Pocket PC solution if possible.

I'm suprised there isn't a plugin or something for WMP mobile to allow this?

Just a follow-up here -> I found a player called "Pocket Player" which does play the .au files! Only downside is it is just a demo/shareware so I'll have to purchase it eventually when the trial runs out. No biggie I guess as it does what I want.
