Unhappy 6700 WiFi disconnects after ~5mins

If I try to connect to my home Linksys router with my 6700, it looses the connection after about 5mins. The kicker is that all wireless computers in my house loose wireless when this happens too. To get it back, I have to jump on a wired computer, log onto the router, and just hit "apply" on the settings that are already there. It refreshes it in a way I guess.

After some further investigation, I decided it may or may not be internet explorer causing it...I was just on AIM for what seemed like more than 5mins using WiFi and I opened IE and flipped thru about one page and then everything came crashing down..

One final observation...I was at a buddy's and he has a D-Link router. I was showing him Orb on my phone and his wireless crapped out and booted his computer too. Unlike at my home, I only had to shut my WiFi off for his router to recover..

Need some help troubleshooting this one!

lets troubleshoot. did you:

turn off ALL computers/networking devices that are connected to your network save the 6700 and surf on your network with nothing else connected?

are you the original owner of the phone? if not..

is it a verizon refurb? ebay?

did this issue happen the first time you started to use wifi in your home? or did it happen at a later time?

did you install anything just prior to you noticing this?

what router are you using and do you have any 3rd party software (DDWRT, etc) running on your router other than the default?

lets get these questions out of the way so we are on the same page...

Its in the wireless settings, to disconnect after a certain amount of time. Just slide the bar over towards performance, instead of in between that and best battery.

it is not the settings because those are all correct..

it's a refurbished phone so I'm probably not the original owner...the router is a Linksys BEFW11S4 v2 (router w/ 4 port switch). It has no additional software running on it..

this has happened from the get go...so it has nothing to do with programs i've installed or any of those factors..

one thing I haven't tested is turning off all other computers like you mentioned...tho this router has been running LITERALLY 24/7 for over 2 years and has never booted a computer. It's ran un-touched the ENTIRE time (minus power outages where settings had to be restored)..

welp, seems the only constant in all of this is the phone and it would seem that its the culprit after your troubleshooting and the fact that it did the exact same thing over someone elses location. since we do NOT know the history of the phone you have, its probably the problem and if you have done a complete hard reset without reloading any backups onto the phone and it still acts the same way then the choice is clear.

i am seeing more and more people almost weekly sign up and post on here the problems they are having OUT OF THE BOX with either a "refurbed" insurance phone or a used phone off the auction block...
this is not a good sign. i have not seen this problem before on this forum in the other phones (hitachi, 660x even back tot he palm i300/330's)...

at any rate, is suggest you getting another one if its insured or sell that one for another one. not sure if there is much of anything else you can do...
