Accidentally hit clear storage

My phone storage was low, so I went to clear storage, I didn't know it would clear my contacts, is there anyway to get them back, or am I toast and have to start over?

If the latter is true (I hope not), what can I do to ensure that my contacts are backed up? As you can tell, I'm a newbie.

Thanks in advance, Master Jedi's

just threads that speak on this. very short threads..

but if you use Activesync then all you have to do is do a restore from AS and you will get your contacts back that were saved on your last sync.
if you dont use any backup program, then everything was lost.

thanks for coming out of the woodwork and posting!
