how to ask it to connect to network? PIE does it automatically but FTP doesn't
I notice that Pocket Internet Explorer and Sync (to Exchange server) automatically connect to the network (through the Verizon phone radio) when they are activated. But, things like FTP and SSH clients don't - if I just run them, they give an error saying they can't connect, and it's because the network connection is never initiated.
Question 1: any way to automatically make it connect when any program wants to use a network (tries to initiate a TCP/IP connection)?
If not,
Question 2: how to manually force it to connect? On my old PPC2002 Samsung i700, under "Connections", there were two buttons: Modify, and Connect. The latter simply made a network connection, but I don't see anything like this under WM5. Am I missing something obvious?
Currently, I have to run PIE, which starts the network, quit it, and start the app I really want. It's a pain in the butt; what's the right way to do this?
