New Member!!!!! A Couple of Questions

Hello All -

Forgive me if these have been asked before. I did a search and couldn't find it right off the bat. A friend gave me his xv6700. All I got was the phone/pda and that's about it. I don't have the charger (but bought one) or the program that came with the phone.

1. Is there somewhere I can go to obtain the program in order to sync up the pda to my computer?

2. I have a laptop (IBM T42) and tried to use the infrared on my xv6700 to transfer some photos to my laptop. It seems to not work. Has anyone come across this problem and has a solution?

Thanks. I appreciate all your help in advance.

THE NEWBIE

most use bluetooth or axctivesync to transfer files. your problem is local to your machine and not a problem of the 6700. IrDa is a slow protocol. does your laptop have bluetooth? if not just use activesync. it would be faster.

activesync is free as you will see once you go to the link provided....

So I don't have to download ActiveSync if the laptop has BT capabilities right? Just wanted to know just in case I want to take something off from a friend's laptop and don't want to download ActiveSync to his computer.

if the laptop has bluetooth, you can pair the two devices, just like pairing a headset to the phone. Then, you can transfer files that way. I would recommend getting a usb mini cable to use on your computer. Install activesync, that is the fastest way to get info onto the computer.
