Hi, I have my 6700 hooked up to speakers and I am using it as a mp3 player. I Was wondering if there was any program available that could receive IR signals from the infrared port on the side of the phone that could tell TCPMP to do simple things like, play, stop, next track, volume up/down... etc...
I guess it could be possible, because I have a similar setup on my home PC using an application that came with my WinTV TV tuner, and all I needed was a IR port to receive the signal. Then the app, IR.exe receives the signal and I can do whatever I wanted with it.
I would assume that this application for WM5 would first need to learn IR commands and then somehow relay the signal to a HOTKEY function in TCPMP. Technically, it should be possible. Any ideas?

There are IR remotes for Ipods but I haven't seen any IR controllers for WM devices. Which is a bit odd, since there are a bunch of programs that do the opposite i.e. turn WM devices into universal IR controllers for audio/video systems.
The other thing that surprises me is that with Bluetooth being integrated into so many audio/video devices and the advent of the AVRCP protocol for controlling audio/video functions, apparently nobody has (yet) put out a Bluetooth AVRCP remote. That would also do what you want.

Any developers out there listening? If we could come up with some kind of application that recieves an IR signal, it would be incredible...
Well, I actually suggested that idea a while back (I can't remember which forum). A wanted to make a pocket sized (i.e. key fob sized) remote control that would control any generic media player. I didn't get too many interested replies so I dropped the idea.
My idea would be a 6 button remote (very easy and cheap hardware wise) that would replicate the dpad, action button and one other button (menu, ok, back, start... something). And then a generic program that would intercept the IR signals and then send the appropriate windows system messages to whatever program you want. I could preprogram some of the more popular media players and the user could add custom ones.
Any one interested?

That would be ideal for what I am trying to do.
Although I do have a little programming background, I do not think I could be much help in developing it.
I will be a full supporter of the project though!
