No horror show. More stable than the factory ROM's supplied by VZW, Sprint, etc.

If you haven't had trouble with the original ROM, just wait, its coming. Jeff's version is a significant upgrade for the 6700 handset. Just like anything new, you have to learn how to use it.

Did you ever get the buttons to work? Mine are wacky. I'll assign something to one place and it works in another. Sometimes I'll put an app on the push/hold and it works on just push. Hard to get rid of notes on #5, keeps coming up. Anyone solved the crazy buttons?

Yes, but I can't delete it since it thinks the program is in ROM, hence locked. Any suggestions?

OK, great thread!

I was able to fix the Voice Command button programming, or at least I was able to map to my recorder button.

The trick was to leave "Button 5" set to <none> and then set "Button 5 (Press & Hold)" to Voice Command. Works perfectly.

Thanks to others that also steared me to use a Windows XP computer, as the installer didn't work in Vista.

Now I need to charge my Bluetooth USB receiver as the MS Live Search is *the* reason to carry a PPC (other then mail, surfing the web, etc).

Not to mention the overall performance gain...

Chris.

OK, your funny button pattern worked. Any way of getting anything to work now on press/hold 5?

I've had Kirvin's 3.5 up and running for a few days and here are my observations:
1. Everything is faster, especially any soft reset.
2. A few weird things with the buttons.
3. If I'm BT with GPS and a phone call comes in, I lose BT and have to shutdown INAV and reset BT. I can't figure out why?
4. I keep losing the connection to the storage card and then I do seem to have to do more soft resets. Not sure why. Don't know if its the OS or the programs I have running.

Overall, its much better than the stock and its nice having the junk removed. I'm glad I tried it and think I'll stick with it despite a new set of quirks that I have to solve.

Awesome ROM

Jeff - Thanks so much for your work on this ROM. I just loaded it on my old PPC 6700 and it is like having a new phone. The speed is incredible, especially opening web pages in IE. This will extend the useful life of my phone for a while (until it falls apart like my other one).

Wireless Modem

Running the originl Sprint ROM, my wireless modem was working good After I installed Kervin's ROM, the wireless modem now give me the "OPEN COMM ERROR".

Kervin's 3.5 is what I would like to keep, but I need the wireless modem for travel. The internet sharing isn't working either.

Help I'm in tears of frustration. I put on Kirvin's 3.5. I keep trying to put Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 back on and when I try to use it I get. "Voice comman has encountered a problem. Restart Voice Command and try again.

I'm over 40, female and need my voice dialer. Please help in simple english. I don't want to cause any traffic accidents trying to call home. I liked saying phone home and having it do it.

Nikki,
Voice command 1.5 is not compatible with the newer (AKU3x) ROMs. If you want to keep this ROM and still have MSVC, suggest you upgrade to MSVC 1.6. Supposedly you can upgrade for ~$10 on Handango.com if that's where you bought the original MSVC 1.5. Otherwise, you may have to shell out $40 for it. Good luck. tmb

I have the VC 1.5 CD and went to Pocketgear.com and got the $10 upgrade to 1.6 download. It works great now.

Question. I have the latest Sprint ROM. What does this new rom give me? Most importantly I have a new Audi A6 with a built in bluetooth system. The phonebook setting does not get the imported setting from my phone. Does upgrading to this new rom allow transmission of my contacts as a phone book to my car system. Ironically when I upgraded my phone to the latest SPRINT rom my phone book worked for like a month.

GPS Support in New Kirvin ROM

I upgraded and overall things seem to be fine. I can establish a BT partnership with my Motorola headset, but when I try to connect to a GlobalSat BT-338 all seems to go fine, but they don't connect. Also, in the stock ROM and in Colonel's which I was using before there was a program under settings/system tab to manage GPS communications. That is missing in the new ROM.

my settings are make this device discoverable
COM4 with secure connection unchecked
and I am sure that I am using the stock passcode for the GPS receiver.

Thanks very much for the new rom and for any ideas.
