Sprite Backup will install fine but will give an error when trying to back-up after installing this ROM. It worked previously when I just got the phone..

anyone else encounter this?

Hmm, if you "click" the little black and green circle on the today screen down in the bottom right it brings up your connections manager. You can disconnect the internet from there (it's the PDA looking thing with a right and left arrow next to it).

No hack needed.

But thats a whole extra button click. We hack away at the OS to make life easier for us. Also I'm lazy.

Thanks for this great ROM, Jeff. This is the first time I've used a non-Sprint-issued ROM on my PPC6700, but it had gotten to the point where I was about to give up on the unit being slow, buggy and needing a reset two or three times a day.

This ROM gives me hope that there may yet be life in this machine.

Anyway - is there a way to get the battery indicator to show up in the titlebar again? I can't find that as an option anymore.

When you say 'extract' what do you mean? The ROM is an executable file (.exe) so you shouldn't try running any kind of 'extractor' program like Winzip or WinRar, etc.

When I download the .rar files and try to extract them I get the "unexpected ending", when I try to install the .exe files I get "files corrupt please try to redownload and reinstall"

I seem to keep getting the "CRC failed in _nk.nbf" "unexpected end of archive" message when I install any of the .exe files from the ppcgeeks site, any help?

Nevermind: went and checked file size and my download accelerator never downloaded the whole thing. Was able to download regular and it works.

Problem using USB Serial Sync Mode

Hi,

Kudos on the work. Very nice.

I was able to get the ROM up and running on my XV6700 - loved it. But, when I enabled USB Serial Sync Mode (necessary due to firewall restrictions on my work PC) the phone froze (soft reset brought it back) and, obviously, I couldn't connect via ActiveSync with my PC. I am using the ActiveSync Mode program that was available on, I believe, HTC's web site.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get Serial Sync Mode to work with this ROM?

Thanks.

This ROM is awesome!!! I'm not a big fan on flashing or upgrading ROMS unless released officialy, but i just had to test it out. You did an awesome job. Is there anyway to change the two softkey buttons launch apps? Right now its set to WEB for left soft key and Running for RIGHT soft key. Can those be changed?

I have been using this ROM for about 2 weeks. All was great for the 1st week. Now I am finding that each day, my PDA becomes more unstable. I have not added any new programs in the last 2 weeks since I initially added them. I had to reset the phone at least 6 times yesterday. Most of the errors are with the phone itself. It is DSOD much of the time. It appears to be working and then I can't answer an incoming call. Other times, people have said they have called and there is no record of this unless I reset. Anyone else having these problems?

I have been using this for over a month. It is by far the most stabl one I have used, although all the others were OEM stock ROMs for which even tweaking would not stop the DSODs.

I suggest that you try reflashing. If available, I would even try reflashing back to your original ROM first, and then flash the upgrade.

I'm having trouble sending picture mail with the mms feature. Everything seems okay when it sends, but nobody ever receives them. A long while ago when someone posted the mms program just by itself, it worked, but not the one that comes with the rom update. Can anyone post any settings or have a work around? I tried doing a search for "mms" but nothing came up. Thanks!

Typically it seems DSOD is caused by the OS calling something on your SD card that cannot respond quickly enough to suit the OS and the whole house of cards falls down.

Try moving software off your card and into main memory. I haven't had DSOD problems with this ROM, but have three pieces of software on my card that have icons on the today screen that revert to "generic" icons with every soft reset simply because the card read can't keep up with the OS during a reset.

Also, check your memory levels and free it up with a SR or at least clear the PIE cache every so often.

Good Luck

Bob Duckworth

Thanks Bob. At times my icons also revert to generic. My question is, I have always put everything on the storage card that I can to keep memory free. I thought a full memory slowed down the PDA. Is that not the case with 3.5? Thanks again

I think you'll be fine until you get down around 2-3 MB free program memory.

I've noticed that I have to SR my handset periodically just to free memory. Something has a memory leak that pregressively consumes program memory.

Low memory will definitely slow things down on this handset.
