I guess nobody knows if the original Sprint OEM extended ROM CAB files need to be updated for better functioning with Kirwin's 3.5 ROM.

I have another question - which version of NET Framework is included in this ROM? Is it SP1?

Hi Jeff,

I flashed the 3.5 NoJunk and everything was fantastic except I was getting Miscellaneous Erroneously Mobile IP Setup Occurred Code 37 every time I took the phone off the cradle. A soft reset would cure that.

I manually created the connection. It wasn't right from the start - I was getting random prompts for the password when the phone would go online for msfp push mail from our exchange server.

Yesterday I decided to call Verizon and by the end their level 3 techs had done something where the network could no longer accept my username and password so they are sending a new phone.

In reading more I realize that I should have used total commander to go into the extended rom (didn't know about typing foldername in total commander manually) and running the couple of cabs that build the data connection.

Do you know which ones they are for Verizon?

Thanks

Thank You

Thanks you are the only two words that come to mind after rebooting the 6700 fast quick soft resets.

The following sticky thread on PPCGeeks lists the required extended ROM CAB files for each carrier:

Yes but it lists all the verizon cabs as optional where I'm thinking whichever ones setup the data connection should be run. I've seen at leat one other post 3.5 user encounter the Miscellaneous Erroneously.... issue

I've loaded up the new ROM and most everything for me is working great. It is much faster, and I have almost all my programs now on the device instead of the the SD card.

However, I'm have 2 questions:

1. Why in my device information do I show ROM version 2.11.20 WWE in the Device Information. With a date of 04/04/06. However, in the "About" settings I'm showing a OS 5.1.195 (Build 15698.3.5.0) --- which one is showing me the ROM I installed?

2. -- and more important to me --- now when every I soft reset the device (which happens every night after a SPB backup) I lose the icons in my start menu and on my Today SPB Pocket Plus screen for any programs that are on my SD card. This didn't happen with my old ROM - and since it affects both the menu icons and PPlus icons I'm thinking it is the ROM.
--Any Ideas? --

I can help with the second question. I put Jeff's ROM on my 6700 and experienced the same issue with disappearing card icons. If you press and hold a card icon the options panel pops up. Go to "Change Icon" and tap the default icon, then tap O.K. It will rebuild the icon and display it on the Today Screen. Obviously, SPB Pocket Plus is booting much faster than the SD card and this causes this problem.

Not an ideal solution, but rather a temporary work around until something better comes along.

Good Luck,

Bob Duckworth

I'm running Jeff's ROM and simply set up the VZW data access manually; I ran 0 cabs from the extended ROM. No issues X 1 week for me. I travel all over so if there is a hidden problem, my luck indicates I will find it out there on the road.

Good Luck,

I have upgraded to 3.5 from 3.3 and I love it. It is worth it. The biggest difference is all the free space left now. The empty extended rom is great, and having .netcf2 already installed doesnt hurt either.

The only problem that I am having is like others, I cannot reassign the voice record button. Is there a fix for this?

Not even AEButton Plus could fix my vr button. How many others are experiencing this?

Did you move you e-mail to your storage card using Pocket mechanic, I found that to screw up voice command on my unit

MS Voice Command 1.6 bluetooth issue, too.

I have a small issue with Voice Command, too. The issue is with "Announcing Incoming Calls" via Bluetooth. When a call comes in, sometimes it announces it. Other times, it starts to, then the sound moves to the PPC-6700 internal speaker. It didn't lose bluetooth connectivity.

During and After the call, I can see that the bluetooth connection is still "ON". I can also place a call by pressing the call button on the bluetooth headset.

I tried hard-resetting and soft-resetting, but it still happens occasionally.

Anyone?

I'm getting a strange error, I didn't see anybody else mention it...

ERROR 150: ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR

This ROM Upgrade Utility does not design for your device.
Please get proper ROM Upgrade Utility and try again!

As well, the installer doesn't detect or list any version info on the screen before upgrading. I'm going to try connecting to ActiveSync and doing it that way.

Running 2.2 on Telus by the way. I'll post my results soon.

Gotta love Windows Vista... installed on XP SP2 and worked fine. I cancelled the installation of all the default CABs as well (just soft reset), I don't think any were too important because I'm running everything smoothly as of now (though I don't use MMS or Bluetooth). Oh, and Live Search is fantastic, what a great tool!

Again, for those who are curious, works great on a Telus PPC-6700.

Files sync option not available with the 3.5 rom

I've been using the "Clean and simple AKU 3.5 rom" for a few days and everything seems to be working fine with one exception. When sync with ActiveSync 4.5 my files will not sync. The same thing happens with other versions of ActiveSync and on other computers. I also did not have this problem with the stock ROM which leads me to believe the problem is with the new ROM. I tried deleting the partnership. The files option reappears. I check the files option box but when the syncing begins the files option disappears from the list. If I try to go back into Tools/Options the files option is listed but there is no box to check.

I too have been using the “clean and simple AKU 3.5” with great results. The only problem that I have encountered is with installing programs. Installation from the computer or the handset causes the unit to just hang. It shows the multi-colored spiral moving, but the installation bar does nothing! Sometimes after a reset the program shows a “successful install.”

Any ideas as to a fix?

I think everyone is - or at least no one is saying if they're not. I hope someone who understands this issue can help - I cannot say enough good about this ROM, with this single exception.

Jeff, any chance this has something to do with your having Voice Command built into your version, but not the public version???
