It occurs to me that you might consider giving the revised CAB file the same name as the original so those reinstalling will auto-remove the old version if they don't remove it first.
Todd - the cab file is the same name--not sure if that upgrade thing will work though. Try it and let me know.
Bond75234 - You have to unzip the file. Inside is a cab file. Copy it over to your device and from the device (use File Explorer) find the file and tap on it to install it.
Hi Luv2chill, I'm having a problem. I installed the cab and yet my button 5 still brings up the wireless manager??? I checked the registry and the empty path is there. I just want my button 5 to record an audio note like it did before MSVC 1.6. Any ideas? I'm using AEB button plus...I've tried setting the assignment for button 5 there as well as in the windows button settings after disabling aeb but no luck...no matter what I try button 5 still brings up the wireless manager.
wezxwezx - Well the thing is without the blank path statement button 5 (the one with the picture of the cassette tape printed on it above the volume slider) should bring up record if you press and hold it. A single press should bring up the notes app. It is by adding the Path value that you become able to change it from those defaults.
So I suspect maybe that AEButtonPlus is causing your problem. Here's what you should do. Uninstall AEButtonPlus and soft reset. Then set up button 5 in the Windows button settings (The normal setup is button 5 - Notes, button 5 (press & hold) - Record). See if it works properly now. If it does, you may want to leave well enough alone. Otherwise, reinstall AEButtonPlus and see if your button 5 stays the same. If it doesn't then AEBP has the problem (try contacting the developer).
Ever since installing MSVC 1.6 my button 5 brings up the wireless manager with a single press. I would like it to record like it used to. I thought perhaps your cab would take it back to normal. AEBplus worked correctly before MSVC 1.6, so it must be MSVC 1.6 causing the issue.
I just uninstalled the cab and now it's back to normal (notes/record for button 5) LOL. How funny is that. Well I guess I owe you my thanks because installing your cab and then uninstalling it fixed the problem!
Once you soft-reset and re-read the registry you'll probably need to reinstall luv2chill's new cab file.

Sure it will work fine without the cab because the real issue this thread solves is that Button 5 cannot be programmed to do anything other than Notes/Record. If you are happy with Button 5 doing Notes/Record then you've got no need for this cab file!
If button 5 was previously opening something else without this fix then I'm guessing AEButtonPlus had something to with it.
In any rate, glad you have it working the way you want it to work.
