Post post your miniSD card benchmarks here please!

Hello 6700 owners:

I'm interested to see what everyone's miniSD benchmarks look like through SiSoftware Sandra lite (the version I'm using is 11.17b) and the built-in File Explorer. The reason I'm curious is because I've seen some results for another miniSD card and can't believe how slow mine looks on paper. I wouldn't mind plopping down another $30 for a faster card if I can feel a difference. Also ever since I got a bittorrent client installed on my phone, I've been craving for some more storage space .

If you have the time, please install sandra 11.17b lite on your desktop PC (its a free personal-use computer benchmarking tool), pop in your current miniSD into the desktop card reader, and run the "Removable Storage" benchmark test. It should take less than 5-10 minutes to complete. Then click on the "copy to clipboard (ctrl + c)" button and post the results here.

I have a cheapo OEM branded 2GB SD card with an unspecified speed rating which gets the following scores:
SiSoftware Sandra

Benchmark Results
Combined Index : 1197 operation(s)/min
Endurance Factor : 9.6
Results Interpretation : Higher index values are better.

Endurance Benchmark Breakdown
Repeated Sector ReWrite : 201 kB/s
Sequential Sector Write : 217 kB/s
Random Sector Write : 15 kB/s
My scores will probably be much, much lower than anyone else's name-brand card...

The second test I did (highly unscientific) was just copying a folder containing a bunch of dummy files over from the main memory to the miniSD card using the ppc file explorer. I would have used pocket mechanic for this benchmark, but I didn't want to exclude anyone from participating since the program isn't free. The files in the folder (attached in a .zip) consisted of:
-100 X 0kB .txt files
-50 X 32kB .txt files
-10 X 256kB .txt files

My device took roughly 12 seconds to finish copying. I chose to use small files because I'm actually more interested in file creation/random seeks/reads/writes per second than overall MB/second.

Please post your results so others can see. I might be ordering an 80X miniSD card soon and will post the results for that if I get it. I will report back if I can feel a difference. Thanks in advance guys!

P.S.:: by the way, I turned off the "backup copy FAT table" and set a cluster size of 4 kbytes on my card to try and get the fastest performance out of it. These benchmarks might be slightly faster than someone else with an OEM card. I also have file caching enabled and don't know if that affected my File Explorer results.

P.P.S.::
The link to download mirrors of Sandra 11.17b (file size is about 13MB) is here:

This program can also do many other benchmarks. I recommend keeping it if you're interested in seeing how well your computer stacks up to others.

lol, yeah. It runs very well and I'd recommend it to anyone. The client I'm using is called WinMobile Torrent (WMTorrent) and you can buy/download it here (his trial lasts for 2 weeks):
http://www.adisasta.com/wmTorrent.html

It looks to be the only *working* bittorrent client on the ppc, but I could be wrong. I use it with evdo at night and get around 80kB/s down while upping at 12kB/s. I haven't tried it on a wifi connection yet because my cable service has been down; I'm curious to see what the max download capability would be.

Part of the reason I'm looking into a faster miniSD is cause when I run WMTorrent and a media player to play mp3s, I'll get occasional studders. I know the processor isn't the bottleneck cause the utilization is never 100%. Anyways, maybe this thread was good for introducing this guy's client instead .
