I believe this might be the problem....
Once you were hooked up to a carrier, the phone will default to trying to connect to the internet by accessing through your carriers Data service, wether it be EVDO or 1X (that is the #777 call out..)
To avoid this, simply go to your comm manager and make sure to turn on your wireless function BEFORE you try and access any of your phones internet features.....this way, it will then attempt to find a wireless access point in your immediate location (rather than attempt to access your carriers data service which is the default setting IF your wireless function is NOT turned on...)
