Let me know what you think!
===========================
I used Mike's Wideawake Customizer Tools to make this ROM.
Here is the info on it:
The following is built-in:
.Net CF2 SP1 (thanks to colonel)
pic/vid fix (thanks to colonel)
smartdialer fix
Total Commander
Clearview for PDFs and PPTs (REMOVED - as I have found out it's not freeware)
PPT.exe removed (PUT BACK IN - to make up for lack of Clearview PPT)
PHM + TRE Registry editors
Reset (soft reset program)
WM5torage 1.7
WMA Phone Profiles 1.2.1.329 (REMOVED - SEE NOTE BELOW)
Changed boot logo to my own, but you can change it using tools on this site to whatever you want.
Wanting to add:
PPC6700 Hacks program at trianglepowers.com
Wanting to possibly remove:
Voice dialer (then, some people don't use Voice Command, so may want this, thoughts?)
Thanks to Helmi_C, Mike, and Colonel for all their help in getting this together.
Edit: Ran into a problem with WMA Phone Profiles 1.2.1.329. It should have a today plugin, but all I was getting was the Control Panel icon. Worked on it all night, but ended up locking up my phone so it wouldn't boot the new ROM. I'm going to remove it today and then release what I have so far.
Edit2: Updated install instructions!
To install: Download CustomAKU3_3_byTSv2.rar to your computer, use WinRAR (download.com) to extract the files to a folder on your computer, HARD RESET YOUR PHONE FIRST, place your phone in bootloader mode (power, notes, reset), connect phone to computer, run MaUpgradeUt_noID (this is in the folder you extracted CustomAKU3_3_byTSv2.rar to), when finished - soft reset, when boot screen comes up - HARD RESET phone again.
Note: TeknoShock was my first AOL name, way back in the day, so that is why the boot screen says "by TeknoShock" (Over at ppcgeeks.com I go by 6700Yuma, so you may see some info on this ROM over there as well.)
Clearview allows for viewing PPT, so no sense in having the file in there when another program is capable of doing it. This allowed me to save some space.
I had no idea it wasn't. I pulled it from an OEM package on XDA-developers.com. I had never heard of it, but everything else in the OEM directory was freeware, so I assumed ClearView was as well. As far as space is concerned, the registry editors don't really take "space" per se. Not only are both programs incredibly tiny, but I added a bunch of stuff to the ROM and when it got compiled, it was exactly the same size as the original.
Not intending to be a dick for pointing that out, but I just don't want to see anyone end up in legal trouble. Consider adding PocketXpdf (it's great) but then you'll need to leave PPT in.

Not a problem at all, I had no idea that it wasn't freeware, so I appreciate the heads up. I will put PPT back in and try to figure out PocketXpdf to put in there. Clearview was easy cause someone else had already made the OEM package that I could dissect. Definitely don't want to get in trouble, nor take away from a developer who expects (rightfully so) to be paid for their work.
Any way this ROM can fix the "phone as modem" with Bluetooth issue? I understand this new ROM uses PAN rather than DUN.
Can it? Probably. There are several people working on that right now. I haven't looked into it yet, as I don't have a bluetooth adapter for my PC yet, so would have no way to test.
I have removed Clearview and put PPT back in. Apparently Clearview was not freeware, so the MS PPT is back. For now I have not integrated a PDF solution. I just wanted to get Clearview out quick before causing any problems.
Nice work - I love this customization. I'm looking forward to trying the updated one (removing ClearVue and adding PPT). I have been following the other thread about a "customized rom for 3.3" from colonel but I prefer yours as the other one installs software I don't use and removes the native voice dialer which I do use.
Two questions:
1. I was expecting to see cab files for the extra software you install in extended rom and thought the config files would direct them to be installed. That's not the case as I can't find the cabs you used and don't seem mentioned in the config file. How did you get them installed? If I hard reset will they still be there? I'm confused as I thought the config file directed what should be installed.
2. I love your update because it's fairly simple and doens't install things I don't use. Having said that, I would love to add a few programs (others would as well I'm sure) to reinstall automatically with a hard reset. Can I accomplish this by putting the cabs in the extended rom and putting them in the config file? How much room (if any) is left in extended rom after your update?
Thanks again! I love your work and can't wait to play some more with this tomorrow.

P.S. Go Colts!
I'm glad to hear someone likes it!
1. These programs are actually installed in the ROM (like the OS) So, similar to MS Word being a built in program, these are there even through a hard reset. They are not in the extended ROM. Basically what we've accomplished is putting basic programs in with Windows Mobile so that you don't have to install them later. This means they won't take up any storage space!
2. If you wan't some of your own standard stuff to install after a hard reset, the extended ROM would be a great place to do that. My ROM doesn't include an extended ROM. This means it should work with Sprint, Verizon, or any other carrier. Just make a backup of your existing extended ROM and use that once you flash this ROM onto your phone. I am just using a Sprint extended ROM without the junkware and have about 6 MB left available in extended ROM.
Give it a try! If you like it, let me know. If not, you can just flash back to Sprint's AKU 2.2 and you'll be back to normal. I'd recommend doing an Spb Backup before you flash. Then if you decide to go back to AKU 2.2 you can just flash back and restore your backup. Then it will be as if you never experimented at all.

Awesome. That makes sense. I didn't get any junkware installed when I applied your update to 3.3 so your new extended ROM is probably exactly the same as the one I tweaked previously.
I want to install your latest (to get rid of Clearvue and have PowerPoint back in) but will wait if you are close to adding PPC6700 Hacks from Blade. Do you think that will be soon or are you going to take a break?
