I have been told that Blackberry's have an "Office hours" setting so push email is only received at certain times, or you can set a time where it's "Turned off". Does anyone know how i can do that on the PPC-6700? My battery dies all the time, I assume because my email is always connecting and checking for new messages. i love this during the day, but at night, it is annoying to get an email notification when I am trying to sleep. Is anyone aware how to turn this off at certain times of the day/night? Please, i really need help with this and have searched endlessly for a few days on here. Thanks!!
Check out PhoneAlarm (http://www.pocketmax.net/) though it may be overkill if all you want is to stop the push mail. As far as killing the battery, make sure you don't have "time synchronization" checked in the phone options. - sheureka
Does phone alarm have an option to "turn off" push email for certain times? I know it might be overkill, but when you make one phone call at 3pm, no other action on the phone and it's dead by midnight... that is uncalled for, IMO. WHere is the "time synchronization" option located. I can't find it. THANKS!! Any other advice as to keeping some battery life is appreciated. I don't have any software running in the background, except for Pocket weather. Everything else is turned on when I need it. Anyone think I should take the phone back and have them look at the battery, or is this common? I have a friend who has a 6700 too. He said he had made two calls that same day and got his phone off the charger at noon. When I saw him that night, he had 80% and mine was dead?!? We seem to have the same software running. What am I missing? I even turned down my background light to about half. That didn't help either. HELP?!?!?
With PhoneAlarm you can set profiles - car, work, night, etc., and adjust whether or not you get calls, phone volume, turning on programs, etc. I think they have a trial (you only need the Lite version) so give it a try. For time synchronization go to Phone > Menu > Options > Services > Time Synchronization > Get Settings and then make sure that automatic synchronization is not checked. - sheureka
You can turn off push email using the Activesync Schedule. You can define peak and off-peak times and set the sync frequency for each, or set either one to manual sync i.e. no pushed messages or scheduled sync. I have my phone set for push ("as items arrive") during work hours and hourly sync for nights and weekends. I turn the radio off when I go to sleep, but if you want to keep the phone on at night but not get email notifications you can select manual sync for your off-peak times.
