how to backup contacts?

I want to hard reset my phone and apply a new rom, the only thing I want to keep is my contacts, what would be the easiest way to do that?

Outlook on your computer? The best I've seen is SPB backup. It backs up all your programs and settings.

The only problem I have with SpbBU is that each backup file has the warning: Unable to read from file "\My Documents\WebIS\PocketInformant.vol".
And I believe that is my contacts file.
Hopefully someone can tell me I'm wrong about that.

By chance are you also using Pocket Breeze?
If yes, then this is a known problem (since August)
that (in theory) should be solved in the next version of PB.
Workaround is to go into Settings->Today, and
uncheck PB before running SPB Backup.

I guess you just back up MyDevice | vol.pim and restore it

http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=...id=48&Itemid=1

A friend found that method for me.

He also said you MUST soft reset using an application (anything that allows a soft reset?) and NOT by using the buttons during boot.

I have the same question. I currently have the problem where I can't sync up my phone using ActiveSync. I backup my phone with SPB but when I restore it using that image, the sync problem is still there. So now I want to do a fresh install but am not sure how to backup my contacts. And since I can't sync, my Outlook contacts are out-of-date compared to my phone.
How do I get the contacts saved to my SD card?

Just copy the pim.vol file somewhere safe and then copy it back after you HR.

Great. That sounds simple enough. I knew there had to be a file somewhere. Thanks.

Yep, running PB5. Interesting- I wouldn't think that it would have anything to do with a backup. But it's probably because PB is accessing PI all the time.
Not a big deal for now.
I can wait for a fix in the next version.
