For me it's all about the music. I'd pay any price in memory to get perfectly clear and skip free music.
That being said I can get perfectly clear music but this BT stack has caused skipping for me at over 200 setting for LineSpeed
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\Plugin\AV\LineSpeed
I've used Blocks of upto 64
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\Plugin\AV\Blocks
and SubBands up to 16
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\Plugin\AV\SubBands
With the MS BT Stack I got zero skipping but I got the high pitch distortion that most people get, and although using MortPlayers equalizer to get rid of most of it, there is a trade off in loosing some of the high frequencies.
Anyone else tried these LineSpeed, Blocks, SubBands keys and what kind of luck are you having.
there's a custom aku 2.2 rom for the 6700 in beta right now over at ppcgeeks...it's supposed to come bundled with cf2, a native mms program, HTC X task manager, a2dp and some of the system dlls upx'd to save space...looking forward to it
Thank for the info levis. I am about sold, One last question, Is the current issue with the phone itself not ringing, when being paired with an headset using the a2dp hack solved?
Will this do better hands free then the ms stack? My ppc6700 will not auto connect to my Pioneer headunit. Will this stack help?
I can't say for sure, but my Plantronics 510 phone headset will connect automagically when I turn it on, as long as BT is turned on of course and even after you've turned BT off and then back on.
Also if you have more than 1 HS/HF profile it won't connect until you select the headset you want to use and sometimes it might just not work.
For music with my Lubix Stereo BT headset it is necessary to select connect to get it going again. However it's first time everytime to connect, whereas with the MS BT Stack it was very tricky to get the Lubix to connect.

With this stack, all the audio is routed to the headset so the phone doesn't ring just the headset, which plays the actual ringtone you use. So no, unfortunately it's not fixed
BIG NOTE: As far as I can tell because the stereo goes to the audio gateway and the HS/HF goes to the audio gateway, you're stuck having a BT phone or a BT Stereo headset. It's one or the other, only 1 at a time. When listening to music the phone will ring in the headset and stop the music, but you'll have to use the phone to talk and after you hang up the music will start playing in the headset again.
This is definitely not the way the MS BT Stack works, so either I'm doing something wrong or this BT Stack is still needing some fixing. Time to read the Hermes thread again and see if this is the way it works for them, or if this is the issue they're working on.
This is probably a deal breaker for most people, but for me it's not really an issue as I normally only listen to music when everyones sleeping, and during the day I use the MS BT Stack.
I just got a Lubix headset and noted the high pitched squeal with the MS Stack, but from reading the above posts I'm a tad leery about putting the Widcomm stack in. I'm gonna watch this thread closely though.
Levis,
What is your setup? I have the 510 and current ROM and VC. Works fine for VC and calls. I have not installed anything else (as I just got the phone and am also waiting on a mini sd card to arrive). I tried running the BT toggle for the 1. .net CF but although it runs, does not seem to work for me. If Media Player is running, I get music in my ear for a second before it switches back to the phone.

Your question doesn't really seem related to this thread but for a little insight for you I'll explain a bit. Search for BT Toggle if you want more info on it.
It sounds to me like you are using the builtin MS Stack. BT toggle won't get you stereo sound, it's just to redirect all audio to a headset and it'll probably sound like crap for music. If you get a stereo headset then you'd need to apply the Tornado A2DP hack which would allow you to get stereo sound with the MS BT stack. You could install the Widcomm BT stack and get much better stereo sound but there are still many little problems as this project is in developement and not even aimed at us 6700 users, it just happens to work because we're using the same chipset.
If you want compatability for now use the MS BT stack and get the Tornado A2DP hack and a stereo headset, there's a great thread here http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...t=best+headset
that'll give you a good idea what headset to get and what problems you might experience.
If you want to try out the Widcomm stack, do it while your phone isn't full of programs and data incase you want to Hard Reset to get rid of it. BTW you can switch back and forth between stacks with a soft reset to get the best of both worlds. That's what I'm doing now, Widcomm for music and MS for everything else.

The newest Mortplayer or Pocket Music both have equalizers that can really minimize the distortion. I pick a song with the worst distortion and then I just bring the 1st 3 treble sliders down maybe 1 or 2 steps with Mortplayer to minimize but not remove all the distortion and then save the settings. With the presets in the Lubix I can usually find 1 of the settings that will bring the sound back close to the original or at least to the point where it still sounds really good.
You really should try the Widcomm stack though, if only to hear how good the sound really can be, except the occasional skip. Worst case,as I've never heard of anyone bricking their phone, you hard reset and reinstall your apps.
Perhaps I am missing something and it was not my intention to inquire off topic. Please look at the beginning of your last post and that may explain why I picked you out. You have a 510 and indicate that you can get audio (beyond calls). For now, I don't neet stereo, although it would be nice in the future once they work out the bugs. I just want to listen to my comedy and Howard Stern recordings between phone calls. Obviously, something is keeping your audio gateway open, stereo or mono. How do you get the audio over the 510, regardless of the quality?
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I think you just misunderstood my reply to the post you're talking about.

That was talking about the handsfree/headset profile which relates to phone headsets. Stereo is usually refered to as Wireless Stereo Profile. So to answer your question I only get phone and Voice command related audio over my Plantronics 510. That being said bt toggle can probably do the job for you but I can't help you out with it, sorry
1. It has a much kewler interface.
2. My plantronics started right up
3. Had a couple of errors after stopping and restarting "memory bug"
I'm personally sticking with the original ms bt stack and tornado hack. The amount of space required for the bbs hermes and the bugs done it in for me.. though I'll be watching and trying again later i'm sure : )
After reading through the thread on XDA, I still have one question that I couldn't seem to find a decisive answer to before I update to the Widcomm stack. Will I still be able to activate VC with the button on my Lubix headset? Also, should I remove the Tornado hack before I add the Widcomm or will they not interfere with each other? Thanks in advance!

Well, I went ahead and tried it. The music sounds incredible through the Widcomm stack- holy cow does it make an improvement. However, I lost most of the actual headset functionality like being able to activate VC by holding the one button on the headset. Also, I can't even get the headset to answer calls. Thus, for now, I'm going back to MS. However, I cannot wait for them to get this thing ironed out- the interface is twenty times better and will be an invaluable add on, when it's ready.

Did you get any skipping through your Lubix, that's the only thing I really hate with this stack. I can live with switching back and forth between stacks but the skipping is annoying.

Kind of funny, I actually did not experience any skipping. Now if we simply combine what's right with your device and what's right with mine...if only 6700s could mate (a feature I'm sure the 6800 ought to have.)

So no skipping, no pops, no 1 ms glitches? Did you use any tweaks like the linespeed, blocks or subbands registry entries? What version AUK do you have? Mine is 2.2
BTW I also lose the HS/HF profile control too when using the Hi Quality Audio settings, so really there's nothing really right with mine.
I've noticed that when I receive a call while listening to music I have to use the handset to talk on the phone, but system sounds come through the headset. It's as though they've routed the sounds but have left the HF/HS profile out?
I have the latest Sprint ROM, not the one that was hacked for the 6700. I did not use any tweaks to the Bluetooth registry settings. I do recall receiving ONE slight skip at the beginning of a song, but that was it.
