Anyone know of a hack or registry tweak that will let me adjust the screen brightness so it's a little darker than the default lowest (the first notch above total darkness)? I've been using SPB Time as a travel alarm clock, and in a dark room my screen is like a bright neon sign.
Given that I whine every day about not being able to read the damn thing in direct sunlight, I can hardly believe I'm asking this...
I don't have an answer for you, but I agree - In dim lighting, the lowest backlight setting is way too high (and of course if it's off, you can't see it at all).
Phone Alarm is nice for backlight settings, I set mine all the way down to 15% at night time (work requires me to keep phone on 24/7 and I answer phone in bed), sure saves on battery life.
I may give Phone Alarm a try, but I'm hoping I'll find a hack first. I don't know enough about registry settings to start hacking safely, but I'm betting there's some value in the registry I could adjust...
I called VZW tech support about your problem and they suggested sunglasses.
Yeah, that's what they told me, too. Unfortunately, even though most of the world already has sunglasses, I'll void my contract if I use anything but special Verizon-branded sunglasses. Right now, they're still testing them in-house and have no release date -- you know, because Verizon always tests things more than only companies, which is why their customers never have any problems. It'll be the third quarter of 2008 at the earliest...
Frankly, I'm a little skeptical about the sunglasses anyway. I understand I won't be able to see anything through them except stuff I buy from Get It Now.
I actually want to use my phone in a dimly lit room. Turning it over doesn't help that.
Exactly. I want to use the the thing as a clock with SPB Time, so I need it to be visible all the time, but not overly bright. (Which is how I've been described myself a few times...)
