bluetooth hack?

first of all, do hacks survive a hard reset? i just got a refurbed 6700 thru sprint the other day, and i have had a lot of problems with bluetooth either not working at all, or dropping from the bluetooth to the headset while in a call. i am going to do a hard reset on it tonight, but i was wondering if there could be a hack in the phone or something causing these problems. i myself do not know how to hack or anything, it was like this when i got it in in the mail. it may also be a bad bluetooth radio. if i can not fix it thru a hard reset, the phone is going back to sprint.

My guess would be that the previous user (probably someone on this board!) had BT problems and returned it. Then UTStarcom refurbed it (accomplishing nothing and possibly failing to turn up any bluetooth issues), and now you're using it. Nothing survives a hard reset except the ROM and extended ROM, so if you hard reset and you don't have success, then there's something wrong with the phone, headset, or combination of phone and headset.

If possible, do your hard reset and then try a couple of bluetooth headsets. There *are* some weird issues out there. My brother's Jabra JX-10 wouldn't initiate voice dial with VC1.6 on his 8125 at all. I tried a couple on his phone (SE HBH-300 and Plantronics 510) and they worked like a charm. So you just never know. I'd joke that any self-respecting bluetooth user has at least a few old headsets lying around, but some of us have more control than others when it comes to impulse buys in the $50-$100 range.

hey, thanks a lot. sorry, only have one headset unfortunately. I have never had a single problem with the headset though. it is a moto bt h-500 that's almost a year old. I will try the hard reset and give it a couple days, or a couple screwups then back to sprint for me.

neb...i would lose coms with the BT headset...i tried the hack on the "making the 6700 more stable" thread.....on one page they talk about the bluetooth and SD card ....i changed my setting to "1" instead of "2" on the BT settings....it has been a couple of weeks....and it is still looking good.

might want to try it...it is a reg hack....so good luck

Change bluetooth channel in registry

You can try a different channel for communication between the headset and phone. some headsets or rf environments may work better with a different (quieter) channel.

Go to HKLM\Softare\Microsoft\Bluetooth\ Device

From there open the next three folders (or just search "channel" without the quotes) and you'll get to a key that has a DWORD value for channel. Change the number to something other than what is currently there (I have used 1-7 so far but am not sure how much higher the range goes).

Mine have all been set to 2 and work better on 5 or 7. Wait a minute and soft reset.

Experiment with this to see if it helps with noise or drops in the place where you exerience the most problems.
