I just wish these jerkies from sprint would move their behinds on these things and continue to support THE MOST EXPENSIVE phone they have...what a bunch of jerks....
anyways...thanks to all the guys puting in all the hard work that it takes to get us these AKUs (im going to attempt to install AKU 2.2 tonite)
I'm going to try the 2.2 one tonight too. If it works that will be a good sign, as it means it *is* possible for us to do these updates ourselves without having to depend on the bozos at Sprint to actually give a crap about the customers that spend the most money on the most expensive device they sell.
I agree, however, I am sure we are such a small percentage of the people using the device. The rest of the people either don't know or could care less about the AKU3 update.

Im really into updates and all and truthfully after reading the changes in aku 3 I dont see what the big deal is personally. What's the biggest thing you all are looking forward to?

How about full functionality with M.S. v. 1.6 bluetooth anounce caller id through headset.
did the AKU 2.2 upgrade last nite....definately worth it, the load up time is less now which is great...among all the other things, it does run smoother....cant wait till they crack AKU 3
I haven't done aku2.2 yet but am very happy to see it offers one handed access to mail subfolders. I have alot of subfolders in outlook. I haven't had much trouble with one handed use in PIE since installing smartkeys which allows you to scoll pages with the volume slider and then use dpad to scroll and select the links.
What is AJAX?
I wish I could find something that gave me better one handed use of WMP. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
digital habitat - One-handed mail subfolders is a feature of AKU 3.0, not 2.2... so it will be a while (if ever).
AKU 2.2 was easy because HTC (the maker of these phones) already created an AKU 2.2 ROM image for this model of phone. If they never create an AKU 3.x ROM for this phone it will be very difficult to get it working properly.
Think of HTC like a professional painter. The carriers are all wealthy patrons. If Sprint commissions HTC to make them an AKU 3.0 ROM for their 6700, HTC will do it (at an immense cost) by taking the core OS and customizing it to "fit" the 6700 hardware.
Once the carriers discontinue the 6700 though, why would they continue to pay HTC gobs of money to create further ROM updates? Quite honestly, it's cheaper for them to comp a new model phone to the few users who bitch and moan. Business users (the chief market for PDA phones) expect to upgrade phones every year or so anyway.
That is why it is unlikely you will see an official AKU 3.0 ROM for the 6700. If the 6800 (or whatever the next CDMA Pocket PC is called) gets delayed it's possible a carrier will bite the bullet and pay for an AKU 3 ROM, but it's a long shot.
So the only other hope for getting AKU 3 is if there are enough hard-core geeks left around to piece together the components to create their own ROMs, as happens a lot over on the GSM side. It's a ton of work though, and CDMA doesn't have near as many people capable of such an undertaking.
So you should be happy with AKU 2.2. Maybe keep your fingers crossed for 3.X, but don't hold your breath.

Sorry to be a downer.
Sad, but very true. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best
