Display/background picture settings

How do I change the opacity of the display/background picture on my PPC-6700? I've had this picture as my display for a while now and recently tried to change it to another one. When I tried to revert to the previous picture it came up looking very, very pale and washed out. I cannot remember how I changed the settings to make it appear 'normal'. Any suggestions?
TIA.

If you click and hold on a picture using the default file explorer you will see an option to set it as background. If you choose that option you will get another option about opacity, just pick a percentage and set it there.

changing opacity of today background picture

Go to "Pictures and Videos", and highlight the pic you want to use; not open, just highlighted. Open MENU, and choose "select as Today background". Picture will come up with opacity dialog below it, use arrows or enter "0" for transparency level.

I hate to bring up an old thread but I tried this and it didn't bring up the opacity dialog. Is there a registry setting I can change?
