Quickest/Best way to mute incoming call's RING.

Okay, so I'm sitting in court the other day (don't ask) and all of a sudden, my stinking phone starts ringing! so I hit the END button, and it's still blaring. I hit the power button and it shuts up. Then I hit the power button again and figure it'll be muted: NOPE! it start ringing again.

I figured out that I DID mute it, but when I put it in my pocket, I must have hit the volume slider on the side of the unit to make the ringing audible again.

With my old boring cellular flip phone, it was EASY to mute a ring.

Why does it have to be hard on this PDA? Or is there something I'm missing?

I would assume that if it's ringing, I can quickly go "down, down, down" on the volume slider and that would mute it. But I'd like to know other ways to accomplish the same thing.

Thanks!

If you hit the volume slider while the phone is ringing, it automatically silences the ring. The phone's volume isn't turned down, it just silences that ring. I do it all the time, even if I'm going to pick of the phone, just so i can shut the ringer up as soon as possible.

LOL I have so little trust in the volume controls of this Microsoft product that at the opera a few weeks back I just removed the battery. That shut the da*n thing up for good.

There are too many options and places to mess with volume on the 6700. For example, you can use the volume icon on the today screen to set PDA and then phone ringer volume, but you can also set the phone ringer to "vibrate" using "options" in the phone app itself. When you do that, then you can change the phone volume ringer in the today screen, but when you go back into that setting the volume slider is magically all the way at the bottom (because the setting in the phone app itself overrides the today screen choice). Such a mess. The volume controls should really be totally consistent and only changeable in one place.

Dont u guys use a Phone Profiler program...to take control of the settings, i myself was getting tired of going back and forth...now i just click a "Mode".

I have (4) Modes:
All OFF...(PDA Vol/Ringer Vol/Bluetooth)
Silent (Vibrate)
Low (Ring Once)
Loud (All #$#@$ Breaks Loose.. )

I just hit the red phone button, it halts the ring and sends the caller directly to voicmail. The down side is that if the sound is still on the voicemail notification goes off shortly after.

All the above are good suggestions, but the best one is don't go into a courtroom with your phone. Some judges can get real testy...
