I thought I would post my efforts to once again make this phone into the great tool it can be.

I once did that.. had the phone pimped out with registry edits, and an armful of apps... but then memory got low, the vidoe record started stuttering, and some apps like google earth, which should now be replaced with teh superior microsoft live, wouldnt correcty uninstall. So I am starting fresh!

Hopefully some details I offer here will be of help to some.. or perhaps others would offer suggestions on what to do to these phones, now that they have been updated.

It was a hassle to find the New Verizon ROM Update. i did find a download on the verizon site with no explanation - http://support.vzw.com/phones/?p=2200&m=4 this was called "XV6700 Windows Mobile® 5.0 Software Update" so I assumed this was paydirt.

I called Verizon tech to confirm this was the path. they offered a web address where downloads can be found for both the verizon and sprint phones.. http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads.aspx

I was told the 5 downloads listed separately on the XV6700 page were all contained in the download from the verizon site, but that this page could be used to find out what they were. Also, future updates will first be found on this page... good to know.

So downloaded and installed update. will let you know how it goes.

Well the ROM looks a lot nicer.. I can have my wifi and phone working at same time without hack it looks like....

Tried to activesync it with the PC to get back all of my contacts, but I now have to upgrade to a higher version of activesync
