VC1.5 used to announce the caller if it knew them or read the incoming number if it the caller was unknown. Has 1.6 lost this ability to announce through BT or have I forgotten where the switch is?
The feature is turned off by default, so you will have to turn it on.
In addition, VC will only announce the incoming caller over the BT headset on devices with Windows Mobile 5.3 or greater. On versions prior to this, incoming caller ID announcements will occur on the phone speaker.
Check settigs>voice command>phone>options and make sure announce incoming calls is checked. Then press ok then check notifications mark announce notifications using bluetooth hands free if available.
If I'm in a call it still announces the caller ID. 1.5 never did this for me. Also, if I get a text msg during a phone call and I'm using my BT it cuts off the gateway. 1.6 is nice but just with these two problems I think I'm going to go back to 1.5. Does anyone have any ideas?

I did notice my bluetooth cut off in the middle of a call after getting a txt msg as well. If true, that might be the clincher for me too... the loss of the audio gateway (without the extra steps) and loss of an assignment button issues are pushing me back to 1.5 as well.
Hmm. For those having BT cut out when text messages arrive, by chance does it make a difference if you have 1.6 set to announce email and messages? I haven't received a txt while on a call yet so this is new to me.
Yep, that's what I meant...hadn't checked in the options in awhile, but you can click 'notifications' in the control panel and set it to use BT handsfree only. Does that make a difference?
Ok, this is confirmed. You can prevent this from happening by turning off the messaging announcements. Also, you may be able to reestablish the connection by pressing the voice dial button on your headset while in the call after the audio channel has closed
