Download CAB files directly to phone

How can I download CABs directly to my phone? Every time I try to, it opens the CAB in PIE and displays crazy chars.

If i remember correctly, the CAB file needs to be download via FTP, not HTTP. So check the URL and if it's an HTTP address, Pocket IE will usually just display a bunch of gibberish instead of downloading the file.

I assume you mean that you have your activesync explore open and are trying to specify a PPC6700 directory as the "save to" location
Not sure if it's possible....the best way (to download and install a CAB file) is to download and save the file to your PC, then copy & paste it to the appropriate folder on your PPC6700 through activesync...2 steps.

Actually, I'm away from home and do not have access to a desktop/laptop w/ activesync rigt now. Are there any freeware download managers for the ppc6700 that would let me get this file?

Blade is right, it has to be FTP and not HTTP.

I dont know if total commander can do this, but what I do with Resco file explorer is let the gibberish charters fully load up, then I save the page as a .htm file. In resco I change the file suffix to .cab, and voila cab download.
