Sprint PPC-6700 Replacement Has Less Storage Space

I picked up my replacement phone from Sprint, The manufacture date is 6/18/06 and thanks to the new EVDO Pass Thru Patch I am a happy camper.

The only thing I have notice is the Replacement unit only has 39.59 free storage space, and my Original Sprint Phone (Red Logo) had 43.50 free storage space. Both Units have the latest ROM update (Version 2.06)

That is almost 4MB of space, can thus space be gained back?

Could the Ext. ROM have more stuff on it?

Can I run the 2.06 ROM update on the New phone to gain that space back?

Thanks.

Totally irrelevant to the questions I posted. I have a 2GB card, but as you know some programs cannot be ran from the SD card without encountering DSODs also I need space for IE cache.

The new models do have less memory. I have never measured exactly how much but it is at least a couple MB. As a tradeoff, the flash memory does seem a bit faster than the old models.

There's nothing you can do, unfortunately. Can't recover space that isn't there. Look into UPX to compress your exe and dll files and you can easily gain back 4MB.
