OK, I have had issues with AS and my 6700 since day one over a year ago.
This last one just kills me.
I deleted all pc partnerships last week and finnaly got my 6700 to sync up.
I was friggin jumping for joy because for some reason this is now working!!!
Well, it synced for about a week and not it does the same thing as before.
Makes the connection sound, either sits there and spins or says connected but does not finish the sync.
It will say connected, if you click explore device it will "Program not responding"
Nothing has changed. NO new updated, programs and so on on my laptop.
When it was syncing it would do just great, contacts, emails, tasks, programs on and off just like I want.
Now back to nothing. Its KILLING ME!
Any ideas?
I have read through plenty of the threads about firewall, ports, partnerships and so on so this is not just a post without research.
A couple of things I've done...Do a soft reset and let the 6700 boot up while attached to the PC you're sync'ing with. This is the most reliable fix for me.
Another thing I've noticed is that I intermittantly sync when I'm attached to my laptop through my docking station but when I'm directly connected to the laptop it's always 100%.
The last thing is to upgrade to a newer version on AS or the beta version as this also may help.
One thing seems to be clear...AS 4.X is pure junk.
Sorry this isn't going well for you. I've seen others indicating that they needed to shut down a firewall as a possible fix. As I'm sure you've noticed, there's a zillion threads on this issue. Also, on the utstarcomm website there's a download fix for the Activesync problem (in the dl section for the XV6700) however I haven't read of anyone finding this clears the problem. I would imagine it can't hurt but for me it didn't do anything.
Active Sync Mode is software that manipulates hardware and software from
restricting the 6700 as a network component. Installing the software
in the device and switching the option of RNDIS (Remote Network Driver
Interface Specification) to USB (Universal Serial Bus), will allow an
authorized connection of new hardware being installed on a computer instead
of a new network detection disengaging the 6700 as being recognizable to
Active Sync.
I installed the .cab but I dont know what the RNDIS is and how to change the settings.

I can confirm that the above does NOT work for me. Installed, Soft Reset, and NOTHING. It won't even attempt to connect now! Oh Well. I guess I'll just backup with SPB and copy my storage card to my desktop frequently.
I think this is similar to the "usbswitch" that is sometimes used as a possible alternative solution to ActiveSync problems.
First make sure your device is unplugged from the computer. Look for the new program on your device in Start > Programs. If it's not in there Goto Start > Programs > File Explorer, then navigate to My Device from the menu in the top left of your screen and select the Windows folder. Look for a file called "usbswitch", tap on it to run, it should say something along the lines of: Change successful. This device will now connect using Serial USB. Now make sure ActiveSync is open on your computer, and then plug the device in. Should synchronize after that. To revert back to using RNDIS, just run usbswitch again.

OK I was able to get the activesync cab to work for me, but it also required that I uninstall Activesync 4.5 and reinstall 4.2. For isolation purposes I installed 4.2 in a directory other then the default and all is working well.
Hope this helps!!

I am having the same problem with AS. I don't think it's a USB issue. If I try to sync with bluetooth, I get the same results:
- I connect with USB (RNDIS or USB) or Bluetooth.
- AS starts to sync.
- AS stops, I get the AS troubleshooter message, and my device says "Waiting for Network".
This just happend to me too within the last week. I have not added any new software or changed any settings that I know of.
I also had many of these issues on an intermittent basis.
Since installing as 4.5, it's been completely stable when syncing. I even get up in the morning and it's still connected after a soft reset (prior to backup) done during the night. 4.2 would almost never reconnect unless I physically disconnected and then recradled the device.

I think its something with this phone. Every ipaq I have had work fine. Even my 4155 will sync no problem. This 6700 wont.
I cant get the .cab to install that is on the site http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/...yncmode.sa.cab
to work. It says installation was unsuccessful.
Since noticing this thread, I've tried tinkering with a few of my router and firewall settings.
I'm using TrendMicro PCCillin2006 in addition to my router's NAT firewall.
What I've stumbled onto is that certain profiles, even with almost identical settings and programs & ports enabled, will get very different results when using AS. I strongly recommend that anyone having these symptoms (which I was able to reproduce by changing firewall settings) tinker with them.
MS has a page about what needs to be altered using Norton PF, but I was able to adapt it to my firewall to get good results.
Here is the page if you are interested. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...nc/norton.mspx

I give. Never has such a simple concept as syncing my pocket pc to my laptop been such an issue.
Been syncing pocket pdas to computers since the first Phillips I had.
