Is there an SMS Kill Pill (like Central for the Treo)?

Is there a WM5 program for the 6700 that enables one to send a passworded SMS message to your 6700 that wipes the memory (hopefully including the storage card) and then performs a soft reset? Bluefish Wireless makes a program that does this for the Treo (in case your phone is lost/stolen) and supposedly is porting it to Windows Mobile.

I found one, called remotePROTECT by sCPsOFT. It was formerly called PDAKill. Any use this? Anybody ever had to wipe the 6700 remotely?

I had to remotely wipe my Treo 650. I used Butler at the time (mainly for notifications). I accidentially not knowingly left my 650 at a bar. When I got home I knew it was missing. It took me a few minutes to pull up Sprint's site and try to type in my phone number (little hard after you're hammered). I went in the next day to see if it was still there (thinking the worst) and it was there. Turned it on and it was wiped like it was out of the box. I haven't put any such software on my 6700 as of yet.

Hmmmm. I did not know Butler did that for a 650. I had a very old version (2.55) on mine and it does not have that feature. I just upgraded and the remote lock and wipe sub-program seems to have more features than remotePROTECT for WM5.

Do/did you use an encryption program for your Treo? I use SoftWinter's Sentry for my 6700 and put sensitive files in an encrypted folder.

I don't have a lot of business info on either one, but even less on the Treo. I don't use the internal email on either one for business emails. What has motivated me to think about this is that a business associate lost her Treo with a lot of confidential emails.

I don't want to be bothered unlocking my phone each time I use it and besides a lot of info is on the cards anyway for which the lock would have no effect. I don't think just the email program and the emails can be encrypted/password protected.

PDAKill used to work great for the i730, and I would assume that since they have updated it for the i730, it should work fine as well.

I last version I had was 3.6. (Had to actually turn the bad boy on to check it out!) I can't remember how far back it went with the remote wipe feature though. I did not use any encryption software at the time. I am going to check out Sentry for my 6700 however since my current job requires a little more security than my last one when I had my 650.

Post remotePROTECT

I installed remotePROTECT. (Paid version) It seems to work as advertised.

A few things wrong with 6700 since:

It seems a little sluggish. This may be due to compact framework version 2 which is required for remotePROTECT.

The other thing that is stange is the backlight now resets itself to 10 seconds on battery. I have set it back to 2 minutes and it puts itself to 10 seconds. This is very anoying.

I'm thinking about removing remotePROTECT because of these issues. I really like what the program can do but I'm not sure I want to put up with the side-effects.

My 2 cents...Brad

My 6700 was resetting to backlight to 10 seconds on external power long before I put remotePROTECT on it. I wish I knew what was causing it to do that. It is annoying although I can live with it.

Is that screen backlight or keyboard backlight?

Screen - I don't know about the KB one as I rarely slide the keyboard out.
