How to toggle email checking on and off

Most of the time I am in front of my PC which checks my email so I don't need the PCC-6700 to do it. However, when I am not at my desk, I do want to check the email with the phone. Since I have 5 POP3 email accounts that need to be checked it is a pain each time to go into each one's account settings in Messaging to turn the email checking on and off. Is there some easier way to toggle this on and off? I don't want to leave it on all of the time because then there is more of a chance that EVDO will be on when a call comes in and it will go to voice mail (I haven't gotten brave enought to deal with the details of the hack to allow voice calls while in EVDO). Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

I have the same issue and I just set up each of my POP accounts to not automatically check for new messages and I do it manually on each. Not perfect, but if I'm in the position to read my mail, it only takes a second to connect and check it.

I tried that too. Problem is I'm not necessarily thinking about checking but often I do need to know if something specific comes in.

When you have some time, I would HIGHLY suggest that you do the hack (as long as your phone has not been manufactured after 4.1.06). There are very detailed instructions in the thread that explains every step. Plus, if you have any problems, you've got us!

Having the EVDO Ringthrough is a lifesaver!

I'm sure I will do the hack. It's a matter of getting around to calling Sprint to get the MSL code, etc.

This email checking is also an issue because if it keeps downloading email when I don't need it to, I've got all this mail on it to delete that I've already on my PC (I'm not synching email because I use Outlook Express not Outlook on the PC -- might think about switching though).

Verizon says it will never happen. The only way to come close to this is to use WirelessSync but you cannot rely on it as many times it does not check for email. You will have to do it manually unless someone comes up with a hack for the phone. I would rather it check my pop mail so I can drop WirelessSync.
