Windows Media Player constantly reading SD mini?

Hello. Noob here. Read through a lot of the vast stuff on here but didn't see anything related.

I just bought a new SD mini (1GB) and put it in my new 6700. Now, everytime I pull it out of standby or put it in or out of the sync cradle, WMP opens and says: A storage card was inserted. Do you want to search it for audio and video files? Yes or No? How do I keep this from popping up? It's acting like I keep taking out and inserting the card and I'm not.

Thanks! Great site!
Brian

Go to menu and then select update library. After WMPlayer has been updated with your files, it should stop asking you that.

No, I haven't installed any programs yet. Just got the phone like 2 days ago.

Is updating the library the same thing as clicking on Yes when it asks that question? Either way, I just did what you said so, we'll see what happens.

Thanks!

Send a message via AIM to fashionista

this is only a problem if you constantly have WMP running. If you actually quit it, rather than minimizing it you wont get this recurring message. Either quit it from the Memory menu or use a program such as Magic Button to automatically quit it when you clikc the close button.

I'm having a different problem that sounds like it might be related. I use WMP on my XV6700 to listen to music and to podcasts--er, netcasts (don't want Apple to slam me with a lawsuit for using the word "podcasts" without their permission). The content is in WMA and MP3 formats and is stored on my miniSD card. When I pause what I'm listening to and the phone thereafter powers itself off, WMP seems to unload the file altogether. This is an annoying side-effect that requires me to find and reload the file and then to try to remember what time it was at when I paused it.

Does anyone know what causes this...and more importantly, a work-around? If it's a matter of 'the SD card power being turned off when in sleep mode', is there a way to prevent this from happening? (even if it draws more battery power)
