Extremely sluggish after attempting to use wifi?

Hello, I have not used my wifi in a very long time. I decided today to try to connect to my school network, and immediately after turning the wifi on, my device became extremely unresponsive. It was unusable. So I hit the reset pinhole. The soft reset took extremely long. Like several minutes. When it came back it was just as sluggish. With lots of patience I was able to navigate back to the comm manager and shut wifi down. While the speed has improved, the entire OS is still running very slow. Even after several soft resets. Everything I do from opening the start menu to answering a call takes a few seconds longer than it used to. Does anyone have any idea why this has happened? Should I even consider ever turning wifi on again?

Ok, I have figured out that something about the connection manager has been seriously screwed up. When I reset, when the system comes back, it show that 1x is connected. Then the vision connecting bubble pops up and is not responsive. I click cancel and it goes away after a minute or so. I can get the system to return to normal if I use a task manager to terminate commmrg.exe (cant remember the exact name), but then I cant make phone calls.

And as I am writing this I think I have fixed the problem. I just turned off all the wireless radios and soft reset. Everything seems normal again, though I am afraid to try wifi.
