Prius owners? original PPC-6700 with Bluetooth?

I have one of the first PPC-6700 (red logo) with the original ROM and everything. I haven't done any upgrades.

I just bought a new Prius (awesome car ) and want to use my PPC with the bluetooth in the car.

Anyone else here doing the same thing? Do you have any tips for me. Do I HAVE to update my ROM for the Bluetooth to work well, or increase the CPU clock speed to get a better response time when I answer the phone, etc. etc.?

I'd like to know what to expect before I dive into it...

Thanks

My parents have an '04 Prius... I always enjoy driving it when I go home for visits. I haven't tried pairing my 6700 with it so I can't give you any real-world advice on that particular car.

But what I will say is that you should strongly consider doing the ROM upgrade, as in one of the interim AKU builds Microsoft made a lot of improvements in bluetooth car kit support. There are also a lot of other improvements in the ROM too. The only caveat (maybe what's holding you back) is that the upgrade wipes out the contents of the device so you'd have to re-sync and restore anything that doesn't get synced. It's a bit of a time commitment, but well worth it!

Enjoy your red-logo 6700 in your 60mpg car... I am jealous!

I'm using my old 6700 with the 1.05.00 ROM in a Prius, and it works great. There are the usual issues (the old ROM is more likely to just randomly disable Bluetooth), but I never had a dropped call, and the quality is decent. I've also been able to transfer contacts to the Prius (even with the crippled Verizon phone).

That said, like the luvster said, the new ROM is simply better, so if you don't mind upgrading, you should.
