I just wanted to waste some space asking people if they have any quick ways of telling the phone to start talking to their bluetooth headphones (and/or headsets I guess).
Everytime I turn on my headphones, I have to go to Start>Settings>Connections>Bluetooth>Devices[Tab] and then context my headphones and select Set as Wireless Stereo.
I was just hoping there may be some super trick where I can make a link on my start menu that does all this for me. Or at least a link that opens the Bluetooth management app.
I am not really interested in hearing about the Comm Manager. It sucks hard and loads real slow and for some reason consumes more ram than a button panel should (IMHO).
On the other hand, I am interested if anyone knows the API call to bring up the BT manager. I am not above writing code that does only this.
If you have to go through all that, there's something wrong. Using the plantronics 640, all I have to do is turn on BT (using either CM or doing it manually). I don't have to actually select my headset each time - once BT is on, the two automatically pair.
Now, if all you need to do is turn BT *ON*, you can probably just reassign a button to do it.
I have the Jabra BT620 and it will pair up automatically but not in Stereo mode. I have to manually set it to stereo everytime which can get annoying. Can anyone show us how to automatically pair it with stereo?
I have the Moto HT820s. They re-pair once I restart the BT, but then have to tap the right 'M' button on the 'phones to get stereo again.
To get the headphones to be recognised as stereo, go to the devices list, tap-and-hold on the headset, then select 'Set as Wireless Stereo' just as you selected 'Set as Headset'. Then, when you Use them again, the 6700 will know that they're a Stereo headset.

So, to clarify, I leave bluetooth on all the time. This is becuase passive bluetooth (not broadcasting identification signals) consumes no noticable battery life.
I dont want to have to turn off bluetooth everytime I stop listening to music. Right now I have Mortplayer setup to activate the phone's auto-shutoff feature if the music is paused. This way all I have to do is hit the pause (action) button on my headphones and then turn the headphones off. My phone then turns itself off and I never have to take it out of my bag.
The problem is that when I turn the headphones back on, I have to go through this whole Set as Wireless Stereo process. I feel fairly confident this is necessary no matter how fancy your headphones are. Its a bluetooth driver thing. You have to tell the phone that the headphones are once again powered up and should be given all stereo data.
Hopefully that will clear things up. Thanks for the input though. I just don't feel that buying new headphones is a solution.
