FYI - I will never buy anything from Seidio or ever recommend their products.

FYI - I will never buy anything from Seidio or ever recommend their products.

I bought the rubberized case and after two weeks the clips that hold the back piece broke off; and the finish was already starting to wear. I contacted David and he quickly replied by forwarding my complaint onto the RMA department.

The RMA dept instructed me to file a RMA, ship it, and send them the tracking number for a cross shipment. The next day, I did just that. It has been over a month since I shipped back the defective product and have not received the new one. I have left three e-mails with the RMA dept and David to check the status, none of which have been returned.

So in the end I have spent over $40 to buy it and ship it back, to have nothing now. Let alone the time I have spent with e-mails and shipping back. My hope is at least one person will read this and prevent themselves the "Seidio Headache."

Regards,
Thomas Snyder

Sold -

Anybody want mine for $7.50 (that's about what it would take for me to mail it)? It hasn't broken - I just don't like it and am trying to clean off my desk. Mine has the separate battery door (extended battery). PM me if you're interested. - sheureka

SOLD!

3) I dont know what the clip on the lower left corner looked like previously but from everyone's descrp. that previously posted with a problem, this new case has the same clip. I just received this case yesterday so results are pending but I see why everyone is complaining its so flimsy... and why they didnt just hug that whole corner is beyond me but until it breaks (taking it on and off to change the mini sd and the battery more than the previous case) I cant say anything, but I will say that I bought this case based on what seidio stated in the above post:

1. Mini SD card cover- we add this feature based on the feedbacks in this forums so you will not lose your card accidentaly.

2. we will discontinue the cutout version and offer

slim battery version without cutout
extended battery version without cutout

3. The clips on this version are newly designed for durability. They are different from the clips on the old version. Let me know if you have any problems.

1) Separate black extended battery cover securing tab broken (trailing edge at the bottom...one tab is holding the cover on while the other isn't. Leading edge tabs at top end are okay).
2) Rear handset black rubberised casing half has two securing tabs that are broken.
3) Front handset black rubberised casing half is okay.

(Parts in question: CSR2YP6700-BK, BVY32P6700-SL)

May I please get these replaced with item part number CSR2YP6700X-BK (Rubberized Case for Extended PPC/XV 6700 WITH NO BATTERY CUTOUT)??

I paid $34.90 (not including s/h) for the rubberised casing and the separate extended battery cover together. The cost of the replacement item I'm requesting is $29.95 (not including s/h).

I love this product and its concept. I love the look and feel of it and believe it is protecting my PPC6700 wonderfully. Although I'm a little disappointed in the defects mentioned above, I think it just may be an isolated thing. I do have to agree with the post above mentioning that it would have been great to have an entirely RUBBER (or at least close to that) casing of this type as opposed to a hard plastic casing with a (very) thin rubber film coating. There are several places on my case where the rubber coating has already worn off.

However, now that I'm aware a case with a solid (no cutout) back half exists, I think this is the way to go and probably should have been the case to begin with (although didn't exist at the time I ordered mine).

Do you think Seidio would be willing to accomodate me?
Please PM me your order #, I will forward it to our customer service department.

regarding the Mini SD cover....

just prove that you can't please everyone.

Personally i have never have any accidential pop up of the mini-sd so not a problem for me with no cover. and sometime my 6700 would refuse to wake up unless I pop out/reinsert the mini-sd :s

You cant please everyone, but you dont need to go from one extreme to the other. People may have asked them for a cover over the mini SD, but I dont think they were asking them to design something that prevents access all together without removing the case. Some type of flap, strap, doo hicky or gizmo that could be attached, unzipped, disconnected, etc would have been much more feasible than a semi permanent block and for the very reason you just stated most of all... DSOD. That mini sd needs to be popped out and taking the case on and off aint cool. Personally I cut the area off that was on top of it so... eh we'll see.

A flap is the best option -- something like my 180GB WD Passport that slides out to prevent breakage. Slick and sweet, like 1st class companies' SOP. As you've clearly pointed out, there is no other way to do this.

BTW, I've never had a problem with the mini SD popping out. I think you'd have to be borderline retarded to see this as a significant issue.

I am almost sorry that we've probably driven David to a mental hospital. "Almost" being the operative word.

I know that seidio gets a number of complaints in the forums, so I wanted to throw in my 2 cents about them:
1. I have placed three separate orders with them, and have no problems whatsoever, delivery time was consistent with each purchase.
2. It would be easy for someone to bury their head in the sand with the number of issuses that arise here, I do applaud them for responding here in the forum.
3. When it comes to cases and holsters for phones, I have broken/wore out/tore/ruined 99% of them. The only case I have never been able to beat was a Nutshell case for my 730 (which by the way works for the 6700). I made the repair to my seidio clear plastic case using super glue and thin plastic from a blister card, (go buy something small from wal-mart and cut the plastic out of the packaging). Frankly I think its better now than before because the plastic is thinner it doesnt catch on the slider. I am thinking about doing it to all the tabs on it.

My experinces with Seidio have been good and I will continue to order from them. There is never going to be a case for me for any phone I will ever have that will be everything I want and will last as long as I think it should.

I agree a flap would have been nice.

but given the design and material used(hard plastic) and the fact that the case come without LED light pipe. I am guessing Seidio was trying to keep cost as low as possible.

adding light pipe is failry simple and cheap(well not sure about the labor) adding a flap that work with hard plastic (without breaking like the tab) would have been very difficult and probably cost prohibitive.

if it was a silicone rubber case, I think the flap would have been easy.

In fact before this case from Seidio come out I was day dreaming about making getting a Silicone case where I just glue on some "hook/tab" to make it slide keyboard compatbile.

Light pipe? Hell, I'd be happy with a hole like my first one had before I had to send it back. Or am I remembering wrong and it never had one?

both of mine had holes for the LEDs, but they were among the first batch available.

so maybe seidio in effort to further reduce cost(additional labor to drill out the hole) decide to take out the hole for the newer batch?

just my own speculation, no proof or evidence or anything

hmm basically something to transport light and minimize light lost(black material absorb light)

this may help explain it better

Thumbs up Yess!

I just got my new black rubberised case...the one with the solid back for extended batteries.

It's a beaut and definitely better than the previous one I had with the cut-out requiring a separate black battery cover.

I also really appreciate the openings for the infrared, the indicator light openings and the little mini-SD card slot guard. A definite "must" because-as we all know-that little card rockets outta there sometimes.

Looks and feels great. I just slapped a black e-grip on the extended battery area of the cover and away I go! My ONLY concern (not really a complaint, but perhaps more of a suggestion) is that the the mini-SD card slot guard ("cover" or whatever else you'd call it) only covers HALF of the whole card/slot. Yes, that'll keep the card in. However, since one needs to remove the whole back half of the case anyway to take out the mini-SD card (which, in my case, is extremely rare), why not cover the WHOLE slot rather than just half? I think that would be crucial, given the elements the phone could be exposed to and considering how water getting into the mini-SD card slot could potentially cause problems.

I'm going to keep an eye on the clips fastening the case to my phone and the finish vs. wear/tear over time and report back later with any developments. Otherwise, no news is good news!

My experience to date is that those tabs will break off long before they'll wear on the phone. Got my first cover late November and I'm waiting (and waiting, and waiting...) to hear about the status of replacement number three.
