You shouldnt have to be using chewing gum, super glue or double sided tape to hold your case on... this is an obvious manufacturers defect which has yet to be addressed by seidio. Simply replacing these cases with the same garbage isnt cutting it and still waiting on a response from the development team for over 2 weeks. Leaning towards poor service on seidio. This case was the first purchase I was going to make from them and while I was at I was going to get the extended battery and a couple of other things and so far I gotta say... not impressed.
Nothing is perfect. Unfortunately HTC did not design this to easily accommodate a cover so Seidio is limited in what they are able to do for this style cover. Despite the potential problems, this will be a step up from my current setup, so I just ordered one.
I got my replacement case the other day. Since it was backordered for a few days I assume this is the latest version with some tweaks to make it better. NOTE TO DAVID - you forgot to make holes to see the LED lights!
I got my case. I like it. I wish it were a little more rubbery.
What I really like is that it has minimized accidental button and joystick pressings which is one of the main reasons I got it.
I can see why the bottom tab breaks off as it is not very sturdy but I plan to use double sided tape to hold the case on anyway.
I may reinforce mine before they break. I see bitslizer used supeglue. Superglue melts some plastics. Has anyone used it on this case? Anyproblems?
Mine does not have holes for the LEDs. Do some come with holes for these or did bitslizer drill his own?
I did not order a case as I was hoping it would fit in my OEM one - which is does except it won't snap shut and it strains the elasticized sides to the point where they look like they may rip.
I do not like the plastic clipon holders. Are there any (perferably horizontal) leather cases that fit both the rubberized case and the 3200 mah extended battery?
Temporarily (since I am out of pants pockets) I bought a Magellan nylon GPS case with a belt clip at Radio Shack for $11 that works (although the velco flap has to stretch around the antenna)
It appears that the fragile little tabs that hold the case on are subject to snaging and breaking when you slide the fone closed. I have filed for my replacement. I'm thinking of adding a tiny dab of rtv to the corners of the case when i install the new one. Any thoughts on this?
one thing though, I do not recommend doing anything until/unless you are sure you won't RMA it if anything break. I did mine because it is already the replacement and I didn't feel like going thru thru the RMA process again and be without the case for a couple of days. Plus unless seidio changed materials, I fear the tab may keep breaking anyway.
and you can always use epoxy in place of superglue, I just used superglue because it was quick to use and I have one handy
D@mn. I wish I had known that. I just got mine. I would have held off. Anyway, I taped a tape to the 6700 body under rubber case and over the SD slot. The case helps holds the tape on better than before. Fortunately I don't need to pop it to reset a DSOD or to take it out swap it that often.
How come you did away with the holes for the LEDs?
The rubberized case and crystal case for 6700 for extended battery with no cutout has been released. Shipping now. The bundles with this case are also available.
Mixed review on the new case with the LED cutout...
1) You covered the mini sd yes... but you made it impossible to remove the mini sd w/o taking the whole case off which is a pain in the a.
2) The battery cutout should have been left in because if you have an extended battery, there are times when you want it slimmer as in to slip into your pocket and times when you want the juice as in not gonna be near a charger for a while. Regardless of which battery you have in there now you still have the bulk of the case.
3) I dont know what the clip on the lower left corner looked like previously but from everyone's descrp. that previously posted with a problem, this new case has the same clip. I just received this case yesterday so results are pending but I see why everyone is complaining its so flimsy... and why they didnt just hug that whole corner is beyond me but until it breaks (taking it on and off to change the mini sd and the battery more than the previous case) I cant say anything, but I will say that I bought this case based on what seidio stated in the above post:

hey i want one of these cases but i dont own an extended battery. and i dont plan on purchasing one. is there a way that you can put the battery part left open
Another point regarding the "rubber" case... it would have been nice if it were 100% molded rubber, versus a flimsy fake rubber coating. I cannot believe how a potentially good idea could be so poorly designed and executed.

I've returned to following this thread a little bit since tabs on each of my rubberised case (with cutout) AND the extended battery door broke. I bought them in September. I'm submitting a request form. Below are my comments on this form, for your review and discussion:
1) Separate black extended battery cover securing tab broken (trailing edge at the bottom...one tab is holding the cover on while the other isn't. Leading edge tabs at top end are okay).
2) Rear handset black rubberised casing half has two securing tabs that are broken.
3) Front handset black rubberised casing half is okay.
(Parts in question: CSR2YP6700-BK, BVY32P6700-SL)
May I please get these replaced with item part number CSR2YP6700X-BK (Rubberized Case for Extended PPC/XV 6700 WITH NO BATTERY CUTOUT)??
I paid $34.90 (not including s/h) for the rubberised casing and the separate extended battery cover together. The cost of the replacement item I'm requesting is $29.95 (not including s/h).
I love this product and its concept. I love the look and feel of it and believe it is protecting my PPC6700 wonderfully. Although I'm a little disappointed in the defects mentioned above, I think it just may be an isolated thing. I do have to agree with the post above mentioning that it would have been great to have an entirely RUBBER (or at least close to that) casing of this type as opposed to a hard plastic casing with a (very) thin rubber film coating. There are several places on my case where the rubber coating has already worn off.
However, now that I'm aware a case with a solid (no cutout) back half exists, I think this is the way to go and probably should have been the case to begin with (although didn't exist at the time I ordered mine).
Do you think Seidio would be willing to accomodate me?

They just discontinued the cutout in favor of the non cutout version though you can buy a non extended battery / non cutout version
