Quick question about 1x data

I am no longer in a EV area, so I have a question about 1x. I know that I can recieve calls during an ev session, while during a 1x session calls will go to voicemail. My question is after using 1x, when does the connection end? Will I begin to recieve calls again immediately after data transmission ends, or is there a time out period before the connection ends? I have Wisbar, so I cant see the 1x icon to know if the arrows are grey.

As soon as the data link drops active transmission or receipt of data the voice calls should be available.

Think of 1X as a modem. You 'dial up' your internet connection using the 1X 'modem' over the standard cellular wireless voice network therefore while your 1x 'modem' connection is up the phone is busy.

Once you 'log off' (close the Internet connection) the 'modem' disconnects and all normal Voice functions are returned to your phone.

One thing though is to ensure that the 1X connection closes as soon as you close your Internet Browser/Email program. I have little experiance with 1X as I'm in a EVDO area. My experiance with EVDO is that once the connection establishs it stays until I force a disconnect by holding the red end button for about 5 sec.

Can someone with 1X as the primary mode tells us if it will auto-disconnect once it is idle?

Holding the red end button for 5 seconds takes your phone into flight mode, unless you have it tweaked not to...

You can also do a search for the registry hack to add the disconnect/hide button when you tap on the EV or 1X icon in your task bar at the top.

Yes I have the hack to disable flight mode. Holding the button for 5 secs does indeed disconnect 1x. Thanks for that.

And the disconnect button hack doesnt work with the new ROM. Apparently they dont want us disconnecting.

OK, that's what I thought you had. I have the new rom and the disconnect/hide button working great.

Really? I'll try the hack again. I tried enabling the hack using the PPC6700 hacks program here, but it doesnt seem to work. Did you apply the hack by manually editing the registry?

i have vx6700 and i had i700 when you are on 1x it ges to voice mail if there is actual data transfer. if there is no data transfer ( if you are reading a email and nothing sending or receving) it rang through and you can pick up the call. ev will stop the data and let you pick up the phone. the best is look at if the 1x is solod or shadow. shadow means no data transfer.
