6700 WiFi Range

Anyone else find that the WiFi reception sux with the 6700 or is it my device?

I've compared it to my Centrino laptop and a Dell WiFi capable PDA (X30) and the range (sensitivity) of the device is very poor making it difficult at times to use WiFi.

I've got my device set for max performance.

I am an IT Manager and I use the 6700 to monitor some of our company hot spots and I find it to be pretty good. Not quite the range of a laptop but pretty dang good for a PDA device.

I haven't had any issues either. Keep in mind Wireless B is slightly shorter range in general than G. But I can go quite a ways.

Might be stating the obvious, but have you played with the "wifi power setting"? I.e. cranked it to full performance instead of optimal battery?

Thanks for all of the responses.

Yes xmind2006 I've done the full performance thing.

I'm going to figure that mine has a hardware (wifi antenna I guess) issue as it seems to work only the range is very deminished.

I can get approximately 75 to 100 feet away from my Cisco 1130AG AP before it drops and that is keeping the performace settings at the default middle range. With a little Linksys WRT54G, I can get about 50 to 75 feet.

No problems here, I get very good range on my device. Perhaps there's some interference that's causing the diminished reception.

You may want to try a different wireless channel. There may be some other wireless devices in the area that are using the same channel as you.

The shortened range is happening all over. Basically, in my house I'm getting about 25' from my B router and out and about it's very difficult for me to see any hotspots. Typically, in busy areas I'll see about 1/3 of what my laptop or Dell PDA see. Again, thanks for the responses. I may bring it in to VZ to be checked out.

Yeah it sounds like something is not right with your device. See if verizon will replace it.
