Seidio is coming out with a 3200mAh battery next week and I managed to score one to do some testing with.
Yes, that's right, 3200mAh.
This battery is the same size as the other extended batteries out there, and my existing Seidio battery cover fits fine right over it.
For those who don't know what the extended battery looks like on a 6700, here's a pic of the phone with extended batery cover, inside of the rubberized case they released:
I go through insane amounts of power on my 6700. Depending on the day I might use it continuously for hours and hours at a time. I do a lot of my work through it, get all my email on it, etc.
Seidio came out with the 2400mAh version a while back. Followed by the competitor's 2800mAh. And now we have 3200mAh from Seidio. It is crazy!
Here are the results of some tests I did. The batteries involved were:
Seidio 3200mAh extended battery
Seidio 2400mAh extended battery
Lion Battery (Mugen) 2800mAh extended battery
'eBay' no brand 2400mAh extended battery (My testing indicates this to be 1800, not 2400)
OEM slim 1350mAh battery
First test - Streaming live audio in Media Player over EVDO signal, backlight on full. I use this test to simulate 'normal' use. If you were using it constantly during the time for listening to mp3's or just lots and lots of chatting/internet surfing with no downtime:
Seidio 3200mAh Extended Battery: 8 hours
Lion 2800mAh Extended Battery: 7 hours
Seidio 2400mAh Extended Battery: 6 hours
eBay 2400mAh (Really 1800mAh) Extended Battery: 3 hours, 30 minutes
Stock OEM Battery: 2 hours, 30 minutes
Second test - Streaming live video in Media Player over WiFi, backlight on full, system overclocked to 520mhz. This is the biggest drain I can manage, everything turned on, and the CPU overclocked. I still have to do this test on the 2400 and 2800 batteries:
Seidio 3200mAh Extended Battery: 5 hours, 30 minutes
eBay 2400mAh (Really 1800mAh) Extended Battery: 2 hours, 35 minutes
Stock OEM Battery (1300mAh): 1 hour, 50 minutes
As you can see from the times and mAh ratings, it is virtually a linear progression no matter what the test, with very few exceptions.
I am going to try to do some 'standby' time tests now that I have a backup phone I can switch out, as well as finish my second test with the other batteries. Needless to say it takes some time to do since I have to be sure I can watch it near the end of its cycle to get an accurate time measurement.
There isn't really much else to say about a battery, except that this
should satisfy anyone's needs. If it doesn't, you're even crazier than I am, and that's a little scary.
Right now their website says it starts shipping next week, on 9/21. I'm sure if that changes the guys will chime in and let us know!
