I've found the main things that my battery life are: signal strength, wireless/BT connections, multimedia programs, and running programs off my storage card. I max out on memory a lot, but it doesn't seem to affect my battery life.

A hard reset certainly wouldn't hurt -- at least you'd find out if a memory problem was somehow causing your problem. My phone seemed to speed up a lot when I ran the ROM upgrade and then performed a hard-reset without allowing the Verizon customizations to run. Freed up a little memory, too.

You do a hard reset by pressing the two "function" buttons on the front of the phone (the ones on the far left and far right on the top row) while simultaneously pressing the reset button. If you want to avoid Verizon customizations, press the reset button again at the end of the set-up procedure when you see the message "In 3 seconds this phone will reset..." (or words to that effect).
A hard reset will erase all data and third-party programs you've put on the phone, including contacts, calendar, speed dial, etc. The easiest way to backup your contacts is to sync them to your PIM (Outlook, whatever) before you do the hard reset.
A hard reset should not affect your storage card, but, if you want to be extra careful, take it out before you reset.
