Just followed the link above to "SDHC on Helmi's WM5/WM6 for Apache"
Downloaded the cab file. and after a reset I was groovin on my XV6700 with my 4GB card which I was just getting ready to ship back to
FlashMemoryStore.com
I'm running ROM version 3.14.30 WWE
Windows mobile 5
!---so excited---!
I've been trying to get this card to work for about a week now, using DOS partitioning, Formating it in my digital camera with the SD adapter card, other ridiculously futile tactics. Up to this point it HASN't EVEN BEEN RECOGNIZED in my phone.
I have been using the 2 gb partitions on my 4 gb minisd card now for almost 2 months. I have had a very stable experience. I have even installed programs I used to not use on the card and it has been working fine.
I have also thought about the new SDHC drivers as I have switched to the WM6 rom...but will wait until the 6 or 8 gb ones come out (either Minisd or microSD w/adaptor.).
Alright, this will be my final update to this thread. I did just have the main 2gb partition corrupt on me while I was moving files in a card reader with my PC (not in the 6700). - Overall this partitioning of the 4gb into 2 2gb partitions allowed stable operation for over 4 months or so - so much so that I had started neglecting to do a backup of the SD card on my laptop.... I have even been using programs installed to the partition with no issues (Hubdog, Slingbox, anything).
Anyway, today I am running the new WM6 with the SDHC drivers and I have switched to a 8 Gb SDHC Microsd w/mini SD adaptor which I bought from Verizon for $103 ($129-25% company discount). It works perfectly. I am hoping it will not corrupt.
Sorry if someone already answered this question, I really did search quite a bit but couldn't find anything on it. Does the xv6700 recognize a 16gb sdhc card assuming I install Helmi's update for WM5/WM6 for Apache? I know people got it working with an 8gb sdhc card but I haven't found anything on a 16gb one. Also, if it does work for a 16gb card, will it continue to work with WM5 or do i need to change my OS to WM6? I'm thinking about purchasing a "A-DATA 16GB Turbo Secure Digital High-Capacity(SDHC) Flash Card" from Meritline for $67 if it works (DVD R,DVD-R,DVD+R,CDR,Blank Media, Flash Memory,Micro SD,Blu-Ray,Dual Layer,Ink Toner,LED Flashlight,,USB Drive,Duplicator,Ipod,Computer Desk,CD DVD Case. Also let me know if you aware if the company/card is crap so I don't purchase it and waste my money. Thanks and sorry again if this is a repeated question.
djh36 - it won't work because you're looking at the wrong size card. That's a full sdhc card. This phone takes minisdhc, or microsdhc with an adapter. The biggest size you'll find in a mini (check newegg.com) or micro is 8gb. 16 gb are supposed to come out soon, but I'd expect them to be twice that price when they finally arrive (they're overdue).
IF you didn't notice that you can't use a micro without an adapter, you may not have the IQ to use this phone. That said, you can get an adapter from Meritline for about $4 shipped.
Micro SDHC is the format with the most compatibility that you can use on this phone. That means you're more likely to pull it out and use it on a camera, mp3 player, etc. down the road. BUT if you're only going to use the card for this phone - then you can save about $20 by buying the Patriot mini SD for $35 on Newegg.com. Otherwise, $55 for an Adata micro SDHC card might be your best bet. Choose wisely.
If you get a Sandisk card, make sure you get it from a reputable site - because they're pirated all over. Piracy for 8gb micros is sooo common it's ridiculous.
it's actually just a misunderstanding on my part, trust me it's not that I don't have the IQ. Let me explain myself a little more. I just recently bought the xv6700 cause i broke my LG Chocolate. The LG chocolate uses a microsd card, and when i purchased a 2gig one for it, it came with an adapter for minisd + full size sd. I've been using it on my xv6700 since (with the minisd card adapter). It's just that I completely forgot that the xv6700 uses a minisd card cause i never took it out since the day i put it in.
Btw, thanks for the reminder, it's not that i don't know the difference between the cards. I was using that lame LG chocolate so long that I assumed the xv6700 used the same microsd card.
No problem, I was just ribbing you because in your first post you failed to notice that a 16gb card was SD. Then you followed it up with post #2 looking for microSD for a 6700 . . . So after 2 brilliant posts I had my doubts.
If you have multiple uses (or will in the future) stay with micro and the adapter you have.

Bad purchase Cadrian. It'll work - but your data will eventually corrupt. I'm one of dozens that bought that exact same card - and because it's not SDHC, the formatting will be lost.
The only way to get a 6700 to work with a card 4 gigs or bigger - is by upgrading to WM6. Even then, you have to buy an SDHC card - not a regular SD card.
I heavily recommend returning that card, but if you don't - just make sure none of the data on the card is critical. After a lot of rewriting, the card will eventually get corrupted. This happens a lot with saving from video games.
One thing that pisses me off - is that if you'd even just read the last few posts you could have bought an 8gb card that works for $30. Instead, you bought a $20 card that won't work.
Well, I have one and it seems legit. ONe time I did have a problem and I just popped it into a friends Card reader and formated and had it working... came from Ebay
