I got my 4 GB from Grassroots PC on ebay. I have had it fail 2x so far by losing it's format (1st time 2 days, 2nd time 3 days).

I made 2 changes since the first two trys, loaded VC 1.6, and Weatherpanel on the main memory, and also did NOT load Hubdog (RSS Podcasting SW) on the card. So far I am sitting at 3.3 GB for over 10 days with no issues.

I do have issues with Inav and slow voices...I will be looking for the patch that fixes this soon.

My theory is that Hubdog writes the card before it shuts down.....the card/PPC is slow to write to the card and it might not write to the card fast enough before it shuts down and corrupts the card after a while. (just speculation)

I am going to add Hubdog back on tonight and see what happens.

I have a 4GB card from Grassroots. It works fine in the 6700 but be aware that if you want to use the camera you must have less than 2GB free space on the card.
The problem I am having is that the card is not very reliable in USB adapters. I have to put the card in it's SD adapter and then in my Sandisk USB adapter in order for the card to be read at all. Once in a while the files that I transfer to the card disappear when I try to read the card the second time. I have to have to recheck to see if a write to the card was successful. I've never experienced this kind of thing with a memory card before.

Last, Grassroots is a pain to work with if you want to get an RMA and return the product. They are still giving me the runaround when I asked for a refund.

regards

Allen

I'll just stick to getting 2GB cards. I just got one for 20 bucks. Amazon has a ton.

No problems here (yet). I've been trying to use it (read, not write) daily, so I've taken up "Heroes" at lunchtime, which looks great in "HD".
My greatest complaint is the write speed. it is very slow. browsing the card through resco is a little laggy too. no slow down on videos or mp3s tho.

I just bought a 4gb mini sd w adapter off of ebay for a total of 41$ w/ shipping. i inserted it in to my ppc6700 and it did not recongnize it, i then tried to put it in my usb card reader for my camera and my pc didnt recongnize it, i then put it in my camera w/ the adapter and took some pics and then formated it with my camera, it works great in my phone, pc. and mac now!

The ad on ebay looked real skezie but the user had a 98% feedback and like 38,000 sells, its not SDHC. the card has no manufacturer label on it, just the minisd and 4gb logo.

I havent hit the 2gb mark yet, my PPC6700 says that Total storage card memory is 3982.0 mb, im currently using 1247.12 mb and its still goin strong.

The shipping was decent and but didnt come with any packaging, just the card, adapter, and case.

The ebay username was: excesories

here is the link to the sell on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200076876628&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=010

hope this helps.

OK, Update, my 4GB just locked up again last night. The one thing I had changed, is what locked it up. I changed the email to store attachments on the storage card. I put it in a reader and used the XP disk tools to discover that it was the email folder that was corrupt. Unfortunately, I had to reformat the device to get it to unselect "store attachments on storage card". I think it kept trying to look at it...the symptom was lacking up after 30 secs from every soft reset - until the card was popped out.

Lesson learned : Do not use anything that writes to the storage card regularly (Hubdog, Email Attachments, etc...).
Weather panel had been working funky before and I have also put it in main memory - it worked fine for a while (when installed on the 4gb card, but eventually could not read the config files on the storage card and would not work anymore).

I might try hubdog and use it as streaming only....might as well with free powervision...

Just an update. no problems yet; keep moving multiple heroes episodes (~70mb/ea) on and off and watching them. One thing I have noticed is that I have yet to successfully install a program on it. I think I've only tried 2 tho. one of them was siriusWM5 which may not let you anyways, and I can't recall the other. The rest of the programs installed to my original 2gb which I copied onto the 4gb seem to work fine. I'm gonna try installing mobile live on it; I know that usually installs fine on normal cards and I can cache the maps to it which should give it a decent workout.

I am currently running on the storage card (4 GB):
Resco File Explorer
Adobe
Hubdog 2.0
iNav
Skype
TCMP
Wififofum
Windows Live Mobile

No issues with these as these applications - so far- I think they tend to not write to the card that much.

I am running Hubdog without downloading enclosures. I have switched over to streaming the podcasts with Hubdog (through TCMP). I listened to a 35 minute one this morning on the way to work with no issues or even hickups. BTW I am in a EVDO area with the Sprint version. Nice thing about streaming as I no longer have over 1gb of podcasts at anyone time on my storage card. - nor do I have to worry about making sure I sync Hubdog with wifi before I leave home. - More room for Music and Video (currently it is 3.4 gb full).

Talking

So I picked a 4 gig card up from grassrootscomputers.

- Formatted it to FAT32 and it was recognized as a 4 gig by Windows XP.
- Loaded up some large files, music and video. Able to move it around in Windows XP.
- Took out my 2 gig from the PPC and put in the 4 gig. It only recognized it as a 2 gig. And only saw the first 2 gig of files I loaded up on it. Yep, it was wierd I go into a directory and saw no files.

Confused, I re-checked this forum... started typing this message to say I had no joy. Meanwhile I reset my PPC. I go back and check my PPC. Low and behold it is recognized as a 4 gig and low and behold I can see all the files

I'm mightly surprised and impressed.

So watch out all you nay sayers!!! It ruddy works =) Now I am off to watch a movie or 4 (coz it holds that much) and a listen to a load of music.

Taking the plunge

Ok, so it seems that whether or not a 4gb will work comes down to a flip of a coin. Unfortunately, the coin currently seems to land on tails about 75% of the time.

Always being one to waste my money every time I get the chance, I bit the bullet and figured I'd give it a shot too. I'll post back with the results. I just ordered mine from MemorySuppliers.com.

Worst case: I can still have fun launching it out of the spring loaded SD slot. That just never gets old.

This is a followup to my 2/16/07 note in which I said I was ordering a 4gb MiniSD from MemorySuppliers.com.

I received it on time. It's likely an OEM card as it wasn't in any retail packaging at all, just a reusable plastic container, SD converter, and the 4GB card. It was very well padded in the shipping.

I placed the card in the XV6700 and .... nothing. It didn't recognize it. I placed it in it's SD converter and pushed it into my laptop SD reader. It asked if I wanted to format it, I said yes, popped it out, pushed it into the XV6700 and it recognized it pefectly.

I immediately filled it (to the point at which it said it couldn't take any more: 3.88gb) with music files and I've been playing it pretty steadily for 3 days. I haven't had any problems with it at all.

While YMMV. my current experience has been very positive. I'll re-post in about a week or so to let you know if it's still working.

I have not tried to install an application onto the card, but for a music store it's working perfectly so far.

4MB MINI SD CARD for $30 - Does it work on the PPC-6700?

Anyone know if the PPC-6700 can support this 4GB MSD card? I'm both curious and tempted to buy it, but wanted to see if any of you have had much like with these bigger cards?

Thanks!
