I was on a friend of mines MDA phone and noticed that theres an AIM application already installed on the phone...My question is would it be possible to copy that program to my 6700 and then connect to aim???

I thought there was already a discussion about this. IIRC, the last thread that talked about this said it wouldn't work because t-mobile's AIM messaging system uses text messages and sends them through a special gateway.
Ok...will do..but the only problem is that i dont know how to get to the extended rom on his MDA..Can somebody tell me how to do that and I would gladly post it on here??
If you look real hard there are old editions of it floating around that were free before they started charging it might also be on a foreign site. it took me a while but I have a copy. its not the most user friendly but work just fine
First of all we were able to make pic mail work through certain gateways and I am positive we can get this one to work as well. No one seemed to really and sincerely try before.
Secondly to get to the extended ROM you will need the Unlocking and Displaying tools. Once this is complete all you will then need to do is open up the phone's explorer and boom- you will now have the option to see and go into the extended rom as if it were a storage card.
Here are some more step by step rules.
1) Install the Apache ROM unlocker
More instructions also inside the files I attached.
2) Install ROM2 viewer
3) For the ROM unlocker, they used RAR to compress the file. You will need to get(if you don't already have) WinRAR for PC to unrar(or extract the file). Once that is done put the .exe and .cab on your PPC6700 by using the Explore option of ActiveSync.
4) Disconnect the PPC6700 from the computer and use File Explorer on it to find the files you just put on there.
5) Next click the ROM unlocker link and it will pop a dialog box (if it worked). Simply click "ok".
6) Once you hit ok then run unlock.ext.rom.wizard.cab
7) Soft reset the device
Once the device comes back up you should just be able to go to the phone's file explorer and see inside it.

you probably want to be checking out the extended rom thread and asking questions there - though i suspect you'll find plenty of info already in the thread:
I have used the built in messenger app that comes with the MDA. It's the OZ messenger, and well it sucks.
It uses text messages for both sending and receiving, so you are literally losing your ability to INSTANT message. It deducts from your text messaging plan, messages are delayed and sometimes mess up (older message comes as newer and newer comes as older) and sometimes don't arrive at all U know, text messaging stuff.
T-mobile is insulting customers bundling such an ancient method of IM to such a data-centric,capable phone IMHO. I mean common my samsung R225 could do BETTER than that OZ messenger many many years ago!
(OBVIOUSLY they want to make lots of revenues out of this.... Everybody thinks it uses data! If it wasnt for that do you think "innocent" t-mobile wouldnt have bundled a REAL data using app?)
