Help a Noobie

I just picked up my ppc 6700 (pretty freaking sweet). and am having a few problems setting it up.

1. I had wireless yesterday, but not today. I have a wireless router in home with a huge password. Everytime I type in the long and drawn out password, it doesn't connect. I tried putting the password on a word document, synced it over, but it won't let me paste it onto the field. Can someone help me get back on-line, and once I do, is there any way for the ppc to save the 26 character password so I don't have to keep punching it in.

2. If I'm connected to bluetooth, can I surf the internet from my ppc thru my laptops wifi connection even though my ppc's wifi isn't connecting?

3. Is the EVDO service a pay service?

4. Does anyone recommend a good car charger, I picked one up on ebay for 5 bucks and the red light of the charger is on, but it doesn't charge the phone.

5. I had a picture I took with the camera saved to my background and it gave me the option of fixing the transparency, but when I go to put a .jpeg as a wallpaper, it looks all washed out and I can't seem to find a transparency option for wallpaper. Is there one?

6. Does anyone know any good sites for free ringtones?

Thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll be asking plenty more painfully obvious questions in the next coming days.

-Shannon

Hello and welcome. If you have not done so, please take a few minutes and read the sticky forum posting rules message. In particular, you will want to pay special attention to the second section on how to search. We have a special way to search this forum that I discuss in that post (thread title only searches using the advanced search function: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/search.php). In order for this method to work, members need to title their threads appropriately (I discuss how to do this in the 1st section). Finally, threads like yours that discuss multiple, unrelated topics are highly discouraged because they throw off the search engine when people do search. However, since you are new here, I will provide some key terms for you to search with, first by using the thread title only search method and if that doesn't yield results, do a regular search.

1. please do a thread title only search for "paste"

2. In theory, yes, wifi and BT are independent of each other and one does not affect the other. I believe it is called reverse DUN but I have never heard of anyone doing it with the 6700. Your best bet is to get the wifi working on the 6700.

3. Yes. You should Google EVDO to get some basic info on it or just visit Sprint/Verizon's website (whoever your carrier is) to get information on their data pricing.

4. please do a thread title only search for "charger"

5. please do a thread title only search for "wallpaper"

6. please do a thread title only search for "ringtone*" The 6700, however, supports mp3 ringtones so you can simply take a mp3 as is or edit it to a smaller size to save memory and use that as your ringtone.

Because nearly all your questions have been covered in great detail, I am going to go ahead and close this thread. Please feel free to post appropriately in any of the existing threads that discuss a particular problem you are having and if one does not exist, create a new one that discusses a single, dedicated topic. Thanks for understadning
